Giants | Peterson released Fri, 26 May 2006 13:32:50 -0700 Michael Eisen, of Giants.com, reports the New York Giants have released CB Will Peterson.
He only played 2 games last season after hurting his back again. He has a long contract through 2009 that while not paying a ton, was to increase exponentially. He'll sign somewhere quickly and for cheap, especially when you look at who else is out there(Ty Law and his insane money demands, for instance)
Will Peterson's NFL Career is probably [sadly] over. Very good player when healthy, but he'll likely never recover from the type of injury he is now suffering. Great guy too.
Haven't you been paying attension this off-season? The Giants basically signed every FA CB on the market. Madison McQuarters Ball To go along with Webster Deloach and Walker They don't lack for quantity, that much is certain. Any one's guess how they'll work out quality wise. Although they do have a great pass rush to compliment them and Webster has a ton of potential.
Not sure if it's similar to Deion. But Will definitely has nerve damage. And the Giants releasing him tells me everything I need to know about how serious it actually is.
That's really unfortunate, he was a very good player and it's sad to see how profound an effect this injury had on his career. I hope he can recover eventually, he deserves better.
Yeah it is serious and looks like his career is over. We had to release him, because he would be deadweight on our roster, and we could use that spot for a healthy player.
Corner Will Peterson will be sidelined for the entire 2006 season, due to a recurring back problem, but Peterson will only be 28 years old this time next year and NFL teams are sure to come calling if he's deemed healthy for '07, writes Len Pasquarelli
He's got some real bad back problems from what i've herd. I wish him all the best because things of that nature tend to get painfull.
