It looks like we don't have any more picks left on ESPN's draft tracker...how the hell did we come into today's draft with 3 picks, trade Leon Washington, trade back in the 4th, and end up with only 2 picks? And we still haven't drafted an DL help. I don't get it...

Let's see what happens next year. I don't think what the Jets are doing under Tannenbaum is a viable strategy for a contending team for more than a couple of seasons but if they win a Super Bowl next year I don't really care. I'm happy with one Lombardi at this point given I've been watching the Jets for 40 years and haven't seen one yet.

Mr. T doesn't value late round picks (6&7). He feels as though you can get the same or better value in bringing in Undrafted FA, pending the board.

That's true, they bring in a ton of UDFA and it's basically the same thing as having 6 and 7 round picks.

Too bad we are not Pats fans they have 30 and every time they make a pick they make a trade.............Hey op there is an idea. J/k

Edit: put j/k in there because that was a huge insult and I was just joking....my bad.

What's the difference if you draft a guy and cut him in camp or sign him as an UDFA and cut him in camp?

Lower level draft picks are always overvalued by teams.
The Patriots have a ton of picks that didn't make their team the last two or three years.
Its great on draft day but if they guys don't or can't make the team it doesn't matter.

Plus with FA and the salcap, trades and UDFA are becoming more important in the NFL.
Rosters are increasingly made up of 1/3 teams DPs, 1/3 FAs and 1/3 UDFAs.

Even the economic argument doesn't hold any weight anymore.
IF a player is picked high or low or not at all, IF he produces he is going to get paid.
You will have a small window of cheap labor if a 7th rd pick outperforms, but way or another that guy is going to get paid.

    Our 7th was practically worthless...

The Jets used to be that way.
Lots of crappy draft picks with nothing to show for it.
Guess what, the gap has closed with the Pats*** a lot closer than people assume.

The Pats are an OLD team - their roster is littered with players at or nearing their expiration date. So much for all those draft picks!
They are old on the O-line, RB and WR.
They are old on defense and Bellichicken can't reload fast enough.

That team has been living on rep the past two years and the beating at the hands of the Ravens was the equivalent of Ali getting pounded by Holmes at the end.

We still have a 7th rounder according to ESPN.
