New York Jets OT Vladimir Ducasse, 4.23 On getting drafted by the Jets… I was very much excited. I was very happy. On when he realized he had a chance to be drafted… My junior year in college, after the season, a lot of scouts came and asked about me. On his emotions now… I am happy. I am very excited. It is the Jets. They have a very good team and they are right there. They are close to home, so my family will be able to come and watch my first game. I am very excited. On what he can offer the Jets… Pretty much, I can come in right now and try to show them that I am worthy to be on the team and compete against other guys. I can show that I am a guy they can rely on and they can trust. On his father’s reaction to the news… He was very excited. He was very happy. He was more nervous than I was, but I talked to him after. He was very happy, shook my hand, gave me a hug, but that was about it. On if his father understands football… Yeah, over the past couple of months ever since it happened, he has been reading about it and trying to stay educated online getting to know the sport. He knows what I am doing now. On his improvements over the year and how much better he can get… Pretty much I feel like I am a student of the game and I’m still learning. From last year till now, I feel like last season I’m going against Kansas State and I have learned a lot from that. At the Senior Bowl I still learned a lot from that too. I’m still learning the game and as the year goes on (with) Coach (Bill) Callahan, I think I would like to say that the sky is the limit. On how much Joe Linta has help as an agent and on your offensive line technique… The first time I met Joe he put on the tape, he was watching the film with me. He got me down doing some o-line stuff and I did them. He emailed me a few pictures to see how I was going to react to them and I took them well. From there we got connected. I know Joe’s my agent, but I see [him] as a good friend. He has been helping me out a lot, so I appreciate that. On how important playing Kansas State was and how it was to play against a Division I team… It was a big game for all of us. We showed up even though we lost the game, we showed up as a team. We gave it our best effort and I feel like that helped me a lot. I might not have the best technique, but I’m on the ball and I’m the first to make contact. I’m always driving my men down the field and I’m the last one to be done making contact, so that was a big game for me. On what he will do for his uncle… My uncle has been the one supporting me all those years, through high school and college. He has been there whenever I needed something, so he is the first one. I know he has been struggling financially and finally I think I might be able to help him out.
Google imaged the guy expecting him to be a big viking like fellow like Mangold. Man that was disappointing.

I would expect so that the guard we drafted in the 2nd should be rated higher than the one they drafted in the 3rd round.
