1. You don't break up the best/most consistent offensive line in the league the year you're going for a ring. 2. You're banking on Sanchez making THAT much progress huh? 3. Holmes is out the first 4 games, we have a new running back in the system and a 2nd year running back starting. Nothing about that spells out "definite" to me.
We couldn't get Suh with those three and 2 first round picks..not even a remote possibility. Oh, and we don't even need the first pick to get him, the second will do fine. Even the Rams aren't that stupid to pass on a qb when they need one as bad as they do.
Teams wanting to cut bait with 30 plus year olds is usually true. BTW, there's been more than a 'peep' of this w/regard to Faneca.
Teams like to cut players over 30 around the time of the beginning of the FA period, not during the draft. Try again. If we are willing to part with Thomas, Faneca, and Ellis then I would have to guess that someone like Odrick, Graham, or Iupati could be the target of a trade up.
If all these three guys are part of that, we better get something more than Berry or Haden. But I wouldn't think Cleveland is ready to give out sweetheart deals for Mangini's old players when Holmgren is calling the shots.
The only 'peep' that has ever been mentioned about Faneca was an opinion posted by Jane McManus in her blog. I challenge you to find something more substantial.
I'm not entirely opposed to it, contrary to everyone here, assuming we pick up FA or trade up using them as leverage in the draft. Thomas I don't have a problem with disposing of if Taylor signs, Faneca is on the decline, and Ellis is getting long in the tooth. If it was up to me, Thomas and Faneca are expendable if we get someone like Iupati and Taylor. Ellis I would keep around til' at least next season.
Obviously i'm talking about today's "rumored" desire to get rid of the 3 mentioned.Pretty hard to argue with Pool Holmes & Cro, especially since we've got nothing to lose bringing them onboard. LT i'm not a fan of but i'm hoping to eat my words. Yes the Pats got rid of Milloy and won 2 SB's after that but that's one player not the total revamping of the team that we are "rumored" to be exploring, along with the moves we've already made. Look how many SB's they've made since getting rid of all their core vets.
Adam Schefter will be asked about this later on 1050ESPN radio. Hat tip to the fan who just called in and asked.
I hope they don't get rid of Faneca!!!!!!!!!! Keep him for this year so the OLINE is together for the entire year, and the run for the SUPER BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Faneca's bread and better is run blocking , especially on the pull. Not to mention our run game is supposed to be our offensive 'forte.' I'd have to hear a good explanation from Tanny if Faneca got 'cut.'
I'm not down with this at all unless we find a competent replacement for both Faneca and Ellis. Why cut Ellis? He was very solid last year, and yes Faneca is declining but he is still a great run blocker and is not a hole on the OL by any means. Fuck this rumour.
Holy shit. They're upset they're not selling tickets, so they'll drop players in areas of need to cut costs? Does Woody believe that losing will help sell tickets?
This is bullshit. Why would they leak that they want to cut players due to financial issues? Don't they know that this will WEAKEN their position on the bargaining table? Have they forgotten how to wheel and deal? This has to be a smokescreen. I don't see them being this cheap in what should be a championship year.
