Out of curiosity, are you planning on continuing this sort of behavior all season? Because at this point, it's just kind of stupid. ETA: Please feel free to continue, though. It's kind of amusing to see how long you'll continue with this nonsense out of stubbornness.
What "sort of behavior" am I bothering you with Oh Mighty Cappy, King of All Message Board Knowledge? GTFOH. You don't like what I'm posting, put me on ignore.
Simmer down, and see my edit above. It doesn't bother me at all. Like I said, I was just curious if you planned on continuing your little hater parade (or whatever it is) all season. I imagine even you know it's kind of silly, at this point. It takes a special person to be aware of that and continue, anyhow. Or an even more special person not to be aware of it in the first place. For what it's worth, I say you go for it. Stick to your guns all season, regardless of what happens. Fuck reality. In any case, people are free to boo Vazquez as much as they want. I'm free to think it's dumb to boo a pitcher in his second start mostly because of something that happened six years ago that wasn't even entirely his fault (Torre should never have brought him into that situation), but hey, that's just me. Whether Vazquez should expect it or not is rather irrelevant to thinking the fans are dumb for doing it. Besides, he wasn't great, but yesterday he wasn't completely horrid to the point that it was worth booing. I bet if he pitches like that all season, he'll win more games than he loses. That's not to say I don't expect him to pitch better than that... just saying it's not like he was totally lit up.
Alio...we need to board the Teix hate train soon. He needs to get started ASAP. Despite Vasquez having a poor outing, 5 runs was not a lot to overcome if the Yankees capitalized on missed opportunities.
I hope the team wins the series. I'm kind of pissed they had two 1PM games in a row, so I can watch tonight.
And only 4 of those runs were Vazquez's, just three of which were let in on his watch. (Aceves let Morales score.) It just sucks that it happened on a day when Joel frikkin' Pineiro threw a gem.
I'll just come clean because I'm tired of it anyway. I say the Fuck Nick Johnson and Fuck Bubba Gardner mostly for you Capster. Granted, I don't like either of them, but neither hurts the team. I have preferences for who I'd like in their spots but what's done is done. They're Yankees, and I support them. (I even like Gardner in the bottom of the lineup, truth be told, though I'd be much happier with Crawford, but who wouldn't?) As for Vazquez, as I said, I wouldn't personally have booed. I understand that it's far too early to do so. I think he'll settle down and be fine. (If you go back to early in the thread, you'll even see that I predicted he would struggle and would get booed.) I think it's premature, but I can't stomach those who think it's completely wrong or ridiculous to boo him. He left as a goat. He pitched well in the AAAA league. He was traded for a popular player. He hasn't pitched well in two appearances thus far, while the rest of the rotation has been very good. This is New York. If your wittle fweelings get hurt if you get booed, you probably shouldn't play here. (And he did express that he didn't understand why he got booed.) I'd venture to guess 95% of all sports fans aren't geeks who sit in front of their keyboards pouring over stats and discussing things on internet message boards. People do follow what their eyes tell them. I don't begrudge people that unless it's utterly ridiculous. In the case of Javy Vazquez, it is not utterly ridiculous. In the case of Mark Teixeira, it certainly is.
Eh. Seems irrelevant to me, anyhow. You were either pretending to be unnecessarily angry, or you actually were unnecessarily angry. I don't know which it was, but either way, it's a little weird, slightly amusing, and I'm not really sure what the purpose was. (I'm guessing it wasn't my amusement.) That's okay, though. In any case.... Wish I wasn't working til 9pm tonight; I'm curious to see how Hughes will do. My expectations for this season are modest. I'd really just like to see him get through a full season with decent consistency. I don't care if he goes 10-12 with an ERA just under 5.00. (I think he'll do better than that, given the chance.)
Like I said, I think he'll do better than that. My point is just that I'd be happy with him getting a full season under his belt. I imagine that's what the organization cares most about at this point, too.
We will see how effective his "new changeup" is tonight. One thing that I've noticed about Hughes in interviews is that he seems to be more humbled now and realizes nothing is guaranteed for him. I wonder what Ian Kennedy is up to.
Yeah, I understand your point. I'm just saying he'd never survive the year with the fans if that were his results. Pretty badly too. In 9.1 innings, he's given up 9 ERs. He's given up 4 HRs. He does have 10 Ks over 3 BBs though. Too bad. I really liked him.
Just for the record, I think Alio and Cappy sometimes take each other's posts a bit too seriously. You guys don't need to get your backs up over every little (or not so little) difference of opinion. Not to get all "faggy", but you're both very good posters, imo, and it's a cooler atmosphere when 2 intelligent Yankees posters treat each other respectfully, even when debating a certain point. Now, our buddy Don is a different story....(j/k....sort of).
