nobody at that price... They can definately get a 4 for him and possibly a 3 in this draft. We set the market on trades for proven players this year with the 5 for a former superbowl MVP. Add in the super deep draft, who wants to give up a top talent for a very troubled guy who is one stupid mishap from a nice long suspension...
If he can get himself in so much trouble in Buffalo of all places, imagine him in any other NFL city.
There is now way that the Holmes trade set the market for anything. Robbery like that happens once in a decade. You would be surprised how much easier it is to get in trouble in a city you hate or bores the shit out of you. Carrying around the wrong attitude will seriously lead you into some shit you will regret. Or he could just be a fucking idiot.
It happened twice in a little less than a year for the Jets. The trade up for Sanchez was an absolute steal.
No seriously they should though, I think Lynch is better than any back in this draft besides Spiller. Lynch just needs to get out of Buffalo to really wreak havoc and he would work well under Kubiak's running attack.
I think GB they have a need for a solid RB and the only town more remote then Buffalo has got to be GB
I'm asking for $20 for this worn out chair I'm trying to sell on Craigslist, but only a dumbass would pay that much. Never know when a dumbass might come along though.:breakdance:
Nobody. Why give up a 2nd for a bigger risk than Marshall with less upside. If they really want to unload the guy, they'll maybe get a 3rd IMO. Plus they have no leverage, since everyone knows Lynch isn't even the #1 up there.
Randy Moss was coming off a 500 yard season. 2300 yards in the previous three years leading to the trade and with serious attitude/motivation problem. He wasn't exactly worth a 1st at the time. Now that you look at it, 3700+ yards in three seasons in NE seems like a steal too. At the time, he was probably worth a low 2nd or high 3rd after the, again, 500 yard season.
I could see the Chargers maybe giving up their late 3rd for him, if they don't plan on taking a RB early.
Thank you for basically proving my point. Moss: Future HOF receiver who was horribly under-motivated and over-payed on a team desperate to get rid of him. Holmes: Former SB MVP in trouble with the law, the head office and the Steelers' front office which was desperate to get rid of him. Two players with extenuating circumstances that turned into steals for the teams that got them really fucking cheap. Neither of whom actually ruined the market for receivers, as evidence by the fact that a player with a longer rep sheet and a worse track record as a teammate pulled in a much higher value for the team that traded him.
Yeah, NE got a good deal and made it great with Moss' production in the following years. But with Holmes, his value was definitely higher than a 5th regardless of his trouble (see Marshall, the lunatic, trade). I would put it around a 3rd to say the least. But, we got the better of it and are hoping we can keep him on the field for longer than Marshall would be.
