Hey guys I have not been checkign the site that much seeing as I have been in OZ for the last month or so but when I have been on I have not seen much discussion as to what we should expect D'Brick's progression to be. I know that high forst roudners are expected to start alot of the time, but seeing as he is playing O-line, which requires equal mental and physical development to be successful at this level, do you guys think we wil start the season getting like 20 or so plays and then eventually maybe starting, or should we expect the coaching staff to start the season with the O-line they expect for eventual success, meaning Brick at LT and Jones at RT with Mangold at C?
Ferguson is slated to start according to all accounts from day 1.. Mangold will probably start, but maybe at G
He has to start, i don't see anybody on our current roster that can man the LT position. Besides i think he is gonna special. The o-line needs to gel so hopefully they do start the right people so they can gain the experience for a possible playoff run in '07
I predict our line to look like this week 1: Brick--Kendall--Mangold--Moore--Jones. Some may say Teague will start center, and Mangold @ guard but i hope mangold can win the center spot since that is his natural position and needs to gain NFL experience. We're not winning the super bowl next year. Lets get the young offensive line on the field at ther reg positions.
D'Brick and Mangold should start either way on Week 1. It's a rebuilding year, might as well get familiar with the NFL's D-Lines up close and personal rather than watch on the bench.
Of course he'll start, Adrian Jones is beyond mediocre, an instant upgrade, even if he doesn't perform that well this year.
I'm not sure about Mangold starting at center only because of Trey Teague....I much rather have Mangold start even though he might make a few mistakes at least he'll learn from it.
I can't see Mangold starting at guard. Moore and Kendall are way better than teague at their positions. Mangold wouldn't play nearly as well as either of them. The only spot on this line that the coaching staff isn't happy with is center. Ferguson, Kendall, Moore, and Jones are pretty much set IMO.
exactly, we couldve had a skill position player come in and contribute, if he's a true "cant miss franchise LT" he better be able to come in. I understand he'll take his lumps, and needs work on his runblock/inside rush. but you dont take a top 5 pick and make them ride the bench unless its a QB in the wings. LET ALONE AN OL!!!!! If OL is so bad we pass up on players like Vernon Davis/AJ Hawk (i know thats by BPA), we need to see this kid in there day 1. and he needs to just grow into the player hes projected to be.
Nice pun JY. I think Mangold and Teague will battle for the center spot. If the Jets drafted Mangold ot be a center, he will be a center.
