I will slam some random schmuck's hand in the nearest car door....if we take Everson Griffen in the 1st round.
If Odrick, Kindle, and Graham are gone then I'd be fine with Everson Griffen. I wouldn't mind if the Jets reached for someone like Cam Thomas or Linval Joseph instead though.
The DTs they're looking at all play the coveted 5 technique, which would be a DE in the 3-4, and DE is our biggest need. Calvin Pace and Bryan Thomas were both starters in the #1 ranked defense last year, so OLB isnt a 1st round priority. No reason to scream if we take Odrick.
Kiper is a bit carzy, but McShay said that he has Clausen at 37 on his big board. McShay is about as fucking dumb as they come. He thought Andre Woodson would be a frsit round pick and thinks Clausen should be in the second, but thinks a needy team will "reach for him" in the first. They guy is just useless.
yeah..L.Joseph's stock is rising pretty quick.....I'm okay with either him or Cam Thomas. The Dline should be a top priority.
Everson Griffen would be an outside linebacker on our defense. ...pound for pound, he's arguably the most athletic player that I've seen.
No, but a DE upgrade that's pushing the line and requiring another double team opens up more lanes for the line backers and blitzers and collapsing the pocket, thus making the pass rush of a defense all that more effective. Plus if you have a DE in a 3-4 thats capable of applying pressure of their own it's a bonus.
Go read some of the blog stuff on walterfootball.com re McShay and Clausen - those guys love Clausen to a bromantic level but they really rage on McShay and his anti-clausen bias.
Yeah I am most definately on the Linval Joseph bandwagon. After the defense of his pick for the 7 round mock of the Jets, I don't know how anybody can't want this guy on our roster. A brief summary from memory is that Joseph screams baby Jenkins and will just be able to dominate on the inside if he wants to. I just don't know how any Jets fan who has seen what Jenkins can do could want any other future NT for this team!
After watching Griffen's highlight film I do like some of his pass rushing moves.. his spin move against ND was so fast I can't belive he could do it at his size...I don't think he is able to play OLB and be good in coverage and is too small for us at DE so I don't think we would pick him up...would be a cool Jersey since my last name is Griffin
UGH I saw your reply to this but when will anyone understand the 3-4 defense. Most of the time the quicker dts will move outside in the 3-4 defense to play a 5 techinique anyway
