http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5047093 FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets punter Steve Weatherford has undergone a procedure to prevent irregular heartbeats. Weatherford missed an opening-round playoff victory at Cincinnati last season because of a rapid heartbeat. Weatherford told The Associated Press he had the minimally invasive procedure a week ago at Morristown Memorial Hospital, a few miles from where the team trains. Weatherford is on blood thinners and says he feels great. He took part in voluntary team workouts Thursday for the first time since the procedure.
with all the great athletes in the world you figure more of them who didn't make it in their chosen sport would learn how to punt a football. why is it so hard to find good punters?
i have tried punting a ball many times and it is challenging. i'm sure its even harder with guys running right at you as you try to kick the ball. i just don't see how guys who are good enough athletes to play in the d-league in the NBA or to float around the minors for a few years in baseball and especially guys who don't make it in soccer don't take a few months to learn how to punt a ball 50 yards. i just think there must be people out there capable of kicking a ball better than weatherford can.
Did they make him tough? Because he shouldn't pussy out of games for some silly heart condition. ----------------- ukilledkenny, if it were easy enough for a D-league BBaller to learn to punt, wouldn't a professional football player who does it every day natuarally be better?
All the best athletes perfect their skills at doing something more athletic. I'm sure if Lebron or Michael Jordan had aspirations of being a punter they would've been the best damn punters we have ever seen.
