It doesn't seem putting this out there would help Leon any at all. It sure doesn't help them with the Jets, and I don't see why any other team would put up an offer or more of an offer because of this. The only reason would be exactly what it says-to clear his name from sounding greedy. I guess maybe he got tired of hearing the "Leon is greedy and should have taken the offer" rumors. That or the story is bullshit. Either way, the chances of Leon returning are dropping by the day.
They picked an odd time to say this. Why not last year when that contract was first reported? Of course a "source" close to the "washington camp" is as meaningless as ____________ you fill in the blanks.
Because it wasn't true. Keels can send all the hookers he likes to the reporters hotel room, but the reality is, if this scenario was true, Leon (or Shitkeels) would have said..."If I had seen THAT contract I'd have signed it."
It also helps Alvin Keels' image. I can picture him standing on his pedastal screaming "I didn't screw over Leon. It turns out the Jets never really made the offer you thought they made. I just happened to wait a year to let you all know about that". I find it disgusting that Keels is wasting his time giving "anonymous info" to blogs (not to mention joining our happy home at TGG to argue with us about racism) when none of that will ever help his client! Alvin Keels has only ever cared about one man - himself!
Even if it's possible or even likely that the Jets offered less than 5 millions, that $2.4 million number has no credibility since everyone who watch Hard Knocks could see what a total asshat Alvin Keels is.
truth be told, all lil leon had to do is show up for vol workouts and get checked out by jet docs and none, i mean none of this would have happened. half the post on tgg would never have even been written. lil leon is stoking the fire by being the ONLY no show.
I lived in jacksonhole for a couple of years and I worked at a place that leon washington used to eat at. And tho I never met him the owner had alot of pics up with him and leon in them.And the owner always talked good about leon and said that he is the one of the best most real people he ever met.He has to get rid of KEELS because his agent is ruining his good name.
it's a business on both sides, the jets are doing what is in their best interest by playing hard ball with leon. leon and his agent have decided what they are doing is the best course of action for him. they may be wrong but i can't see blaming leon for trying to take care of himself and his family.
After all the BS can someone explain how Leon is still with this guy. Does he have pictures of Leon with farm animals?
I love Leon. But one more 'anon' quote from his moron agent, and they should wait till he signs the tender then ship him off to Oakland or Cincy....
I saw a quote somewhere (I can't remember where) that covered a newspaper article (or blog) that said that Leon should get rid of Keels and Leon's WIFE wrote a BLISTERING retort to it defending Keels and how he has handled the situation and how she had TOTAL FAITH in him. It might have been in Jets Confidential but I'm not 100% sure.

You could read his original two posts in the first link, and then in post #88 on page 5 of the thread (the second link), JCotchrocket points out how 954Jet's only other posts clearly show a man who's acting as though he's Leon's agent. It seemed to be commonly accepted that 954Jet was, in fact, Keels - a theory that seems reasonable to me.
