I don't think it's that simple but there isn't much going on so here it is: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/sh...-ten-teams-can-draft-their-way?urn=nfl,230303
I don't really have any faith in Yahoo's opinion anymore. Wide receiver a big need? Yeagh, I think so. But are we really going to start Mike DeVito or what? We need to build in the trenches. I'll take Tate in the 1st if Odrick isn't available (or if someone falls farther than they should) then go DL (Carrington) in the 2nd. That's what makes the most sense to me right now.
If the BPA is a WR, we're taking a wideout. People can say we traded a lot of Edwards but outside of our starters we have absolutely no depth at the position. Yeah you can split Keller out in the slot but I think he's better off coming off the line at the TE position smoking linebackers. Clowney has some potential I guess but I don't see him as more than a #4 receiver at this point (he's a one trick pony: go route)
Find me a dominant consistent pass rusher and the jets could beat most teams with defense alone. So I don't think the jet need to add anything to the offense, the offense (passing game) just needs to develop a little more.
One player? Yeah I suppose if Mark Sanchez turns into Tom Brady then yes. Other than that, they are in need of an upgrade in several different positions. DE, OLB , S, 3rd CB , Slot WR just off the top of my head.
Only if that one player is the second coming of LT, maybe, presuming that Sanchez plays as well as he did in the Bengals playoff game all season.
Well, I'd rather get Tate than Marshall. We already have a #1 and #2. Tate would come in as an immediate #3 and spot starter, and could take over punt return duties, as well as kick returns if Leon is out of the picture.
The fact that we need a slot receiver rather than a deep threat makes me feel that trying to get Jordan Shipley in the 3rd would be the best move for us at WR. Then we could use picks #1 and #2 for best player available at DE, OLB, S or even CB.
After re-watching the game around 7-8x It churns my stomach because we actually could have kept up w/ them but played it waaaay too conservatively. The game was pretty much done when we decided to play for the FG after the TO before the 2min warning in the 2ndQ. Now, don't get me wrong, the blueprint we had worked in the 2 previous playoff games and may have worked better sans injuries but we could have easily had Mark throw it a lot more and Bray seemed he could have done what ever he wanted to that day especially after the bomb....... IMO, having another WR makes no difference if you aren't going to use them...I mean..duh.
If we're one player away, that player clearly isn't a WR. We have Edwards, Cotchery, Keller and possibly Leon as pass-catchers. We could use an upgrade at slot but we're also a run-first team and could live without. That article sucks.
I doubt Thomas is there at 29. the guy has WAY too much upside, only issue was a foot injury and playing in a option offense. I'd prefer Thomas over Tate if it came down to WR. Tate is a safer pick, but he'll never be a number 1 WR in my opinion. he'll be good though. Thomas has the potential to do alot, hope we look at him before draft day. I would rather spend it in the front seven or the OL but if hes there at 29 I wouldnt be angry if he ended up a Jet. theres bigger needs but if your gonna develop Sanchez and limit his throws at least give him some more targets. plus at his size i think hed dump on nickelbacks. but like I said I'm expecting a front 7 or OL pick in 1st rd. but what the hell do I know the draft is always filled with unexpected moves. cant wait.
Maybe Tate doesn't have what it takes to be a number 1 receiver, but I think our CS feels pretty confident in Braylon's abilities since they gave him the 1st and 3rd round tender. I think Tate would be a great pick for us cus he would slide right into the #3 receiver role for us and has value as a return man.
No, but I've heard people saying that they wouldn't want Tate because they don't see him as #1 when we don't need him to be a #1 here
understood. I dont really even want to go WR early. but who knows. I do like Thomas alot though. and Tate is ultimately a 2nd rd grade on most boards but if a team likes him a enough he is a safe pick
Any WR pick will be happy for a #3 role initially. We shouldn't settle for mediocrity - Thomas every time.
I'm with you. WR would be ok if Odrick and the pass-rushers are off the board. I think our 3 biggest needs going into the draft are DE, pass-rushing OLB, and slot WR, in that order. But I think it will be much easier to find a solid slot WR, maybe someone like Shipley, in the 4th, than it would be to find a starting DE or elite rush OLB, so I'd rather address those needs in the first two rounds if possible.
