Why do "draft experts" say hes too small? He is the same size as all of the top centers in the NFL. Plus hes very smart and extremely athletic in my opinion he will be an excellent O-lineman whether at guard or center.

"EXPERTS".... Lol, you answered that in the first 4 words of your post ;-) .

  3. I would say anyone who thinks that Mangold is too small to play the center position is not much of a draft expert. Mangold has ideal size for the position, and when you add in his smarts and quickness off the snap..you're looking at one of the best center prospects to come out in a very long time.

If you look at the sizes of some premier centers in the league, Mangold is just about the same size.

you can't say he's the right size just based on his weight and height, most scouts say he needs to add lower body strength which is why he is listed as under sized by many. that is easily fixed though, if it was a problem he wouldn't have gone in the 1st round.

He's also 22. If he follows the trajectory of most NFL offensive linemen he'll gain another 5-7% of weight during his first 4 seasons in the league.

Ohio State's weight room may be impressive but it does not have the same effect that an NFL training regime and nutritionist have.

He is the ideal size, but his heart and toughness is way bigger then what the eye can see. In a few years he will be recognized as one of the best centers in the league. not a huge buckeyes fan but he is coming from a very good program as well. I have no doubts about mangold. And i do hope he plays center from game 1 and not at guard.

All I have heard about Mangold is that he is one of the most complete players from the draft. His size and playing style seem very similiar to Mawae's.

I wonder how Mawie felt when we drafted Mangold. I'm sure he was hoping for a mini implosion on the Jets OL at the Center Position just so he could gloat. Whe we drafted Mangold he probably kicked his dog.

"Experts" also thought guys like Elway, J. Rice, Favre, wouldn't be anything special either. If there's any "expert" I hate the most it's Mel Kiper Jr.

He was more likely laughing at the Jets trading John Abraham to acquire a draft pick to replace him and counting his Tennessee Titan money.

Elway was the 1st overall player chosen in his draft.

The "experts" said that Ki-Jana Carter was going to be great and they were wrong!!! How 'bout the "experts" that said that Blair Thomas was going to be special?

What about the "experts" that thought that Wayne Chrebet was not even worth a shot?

That sure fire one two punch of Steve Emtmann and Quentin Coryatt was sure prolific!:shit:

However, "experts" do serve a purpose; they make me feel like I actually know something.
