Everyone was screaming for Sam Adams at the begining of the offseason, and I'm sure he'd help out Vilma so I figured some of you would like to know about this......
I would like it if he went here even if he couldn't play like he used to he would a good lockeroom presence and could be alot of help mentoring some of the younger linemen.
I'd absolutely be interested in this guy to help eat up some plays at 3-4 NT. There's not much left in his tank, not that he ever demonstrated anything near the ability people believed he had out of college, but hell, its better than nothing.
I remember when he came out. He was a "can't miss" draft pick. Couldn't be blocked. I don't think any defensive line prospect has been spoke of so glowingly either before or since. Funny how imperfect the draft can be.
Have lost your Mind??????????? Wilkinson is lazy, and has a shaky past with the law. Wilkerson would be one of the last players any coach would want to influence younger players. I live in Columbus and have followed his entire career.....which was very disappointing because Wilkinson lacks motivation and is immature. Wilkinson..one word...LOSER!!!
Dewayne Robertson anyone??? Anyway, I think the Big Daddy was planning on retiring, hence the release.
Considering with the way he acted in DET, he won't end up on this team. Mangini might take a chance or two on a problem guy in a few years, but not this one. This year's has one clear message, and that's what happened in the past is done. From now on it's one team, and if you don't do all that you can, you are out.
I can't remember too much hype about DRob being "can't miss". He was more of the "raw athletic talent with trememndous upside" type.
You're absolutely right...and even so, I'd say D rob's career has been a much bigger success than Wilkinson, who was a below average DT for years.
your statements are dead-on about the beginning of his career, but the last few years he has shown some maturity and has been fairly serviceable for the lions. Sometimes those old veterans who have seen it all, and had a troublesome past can teach the youngsters to not make their mistakes.
I'd say so as well. Once an eventual SB HC admits that the player was a terror in a high-stakes playoff game, that player has found some measure of success in my eyes. Wilkenson has been nothing but hype from the start.
See next time anybody thinks that being a hi #1 draft choice guarantees success just look up this guy as a excellent example of somebody who was never as advertised.
The man was mediocre at best for the Skins. Believe me, unless he's found the fountain of youth and some new inspiration to go along with it, I'd pass on him.
