This. In a year where arguably the only thing that could hold us back from another deep playoff run is injuries, we don't need to be looking for more injury prone players.
I was afraid that many Jet fans would start calling Brodney Pool "Poole" because it was a typo on the home page...
I honestly first thought it was spelled with an E when I first about the signing, probably because of Tyrone Poole. This is like the reverse of the Shone Green thing.
I think it woudl be a great move. I dont get when people wont touch a player with a 10 foot pole if they have been injured and as soon as they are injured they are instantly labeled as "injury prone". This is the NFL and injuries are a part of the game that can happen to any player at any time due to the size, speed and strength of the players. I understand a slight concern with a player coming off an injury but I'm talking about a slot receiver. And how exactly would we be worse off if he was cut in September. Cause we would have lost Danny woodhead? Please. If everyone was so concerned about never signing players with injuries I'd propose the following:CUT: Kris Jenkins: dude has 2 ACL tears, scrub, injury prone. We can get a nother 350 lber to fill this role for cheap Mark Sanchez: The guy clearly has knee issues. Sure he has some upside but we could trade for a guy like Charlie Whitehurt who has similar physical qualities without the wear and tear. Shoon Greene: This guy has rib injuries TWICE last year. Clearly, after one year we should give up on him and cut this injury prone player. Danny Woodhead has never missed any time, promote him to #1 TB Jerricho Cotchery: Hamstrings can be nagging and he missed a couple games last year. Let cut bait on this experiment and trade up for Dez Bryant ...Note my sarcasm ; ) Look, I get understand injury concerns are a part of player evaluation but sometimes I think fans let it cloud their evaluation WAY too much. Especially when considering a part time or relatively low impact player.
Nah... I meant we can keep him until final cuts (which are usually in the first days of Sept) and evaluate his physical condition there...
I would rather see Golden Tate taken and put in the slot but if we go all defense in the draft and get curtis instead I would be all for it. He is a good slot wr.
In defense of the OP, I did happen to read a small blurb the other day (I believe it was in an article about LT's signing) that the Jets were actually taking a look at bringing in Curtis if he were released. So, it does have some legs. I have been trying to find the article again, but for the life of me, I don't remember where I saw it.
I cut out all of the absurd sarcasm. I'm not calling Kevin Curtis injury prone because he's coming off an injury. I'm calling him injury prone because he's had SIX separate injuries in a seven year career that caused him to miss time. Kris Jenkins still has value to this team despite injury concerns because, when healthy, he's one of the best NTs in the game. Kevin Curtis is not one of the best WRs in the game, healthy or otherwise. He'd be a good slot receiver, but still just a slot receiver. Why bother taking a chance on an injury prone player if the value isn't that much higher than that of a player much more likely to stay healthy? I don't doubt that the team will look at him, and like I said, I've always liked him. I'd just prefer a drafted player in the slot.
