He's a two time ST captain... anyone know if he's any good? Don't watch much Seahawks football. Also does he play ILB? I think this guy can be Izzo's replacement...
This team needs quite a few replacements on special teams. It also needs a Gamecock. Laury was done playing when I got here, but I asked a few friends about him. Apparently, he was a tackling machine. He's not the biggest or the fastest guy in the world, and that hurt him on draft day. It'd be a solid signing. We need two or three linebackers that can play special teams.
Why not this team desperately needs help on special teams. Special teams for the Jets has been meh ...........
never heard of the guy, but apparently is a good special teamer...which is one area that def needs help
and depth at inside 'backer. We have no one if Scott or Harris gets injured. Rex likes Westerman but I don't know if he's any more than a role player right now.
You can not tell with Westerman he was an UDFA. Not many come in as LB's and contribute, let alone start. So who knows where he is in the development process. He can come in and be a hell of a lot better. Also factor in that last year he was fighting to make the team, let alone know Rex's complicated system. Now he is a vet knows the plays etc. etc and can concentrate on contributing and not being completely worried about just making the team.
The truly tragic thing about that is that Westerman probably contributed more to the team than Gholston did this year. UDFA rookie versus #6 overall sophomore. That makes me want to throw up.
He signed with us "The New York Jets signed LB Lance Laury, a special teams ace who has spent his entire career with the Seattle Seahawks. He joined Seattle in 2006 as an undrafted free agent and became their special teams captain. The 6'2", 237 lbs special teams standout recorded 21 tackles (15 solo) last season and forced one fumble while playing in every game."
