No, TJ was never going to see that 6mil for 1 season. Just like LT will not see 6mil for 1 season. Even on the decline, LT is a better option than TJ, i do not understand how anyone doesn't see this. Put TJ in the Chargers offense behind that o line....do you really think he has the numbers he had with us? think about it.......
Agreed on the $s. If TJ was 3 years younger, Ifs and buts, you don't know that, no one does, probable not definite. All this speculation is driving me to beer, so everything from here on is fueled by :drunk: happy B'day to me
Okay I've been googling "Tomlinson" non-stop for 3 hours, so I'm going to leave this shit behind me and go about my weekend.
I don't understand the LT courtship. He is old, on the steep decline, and injury prone. RB is the position where experience means the least. I'd rather sign Fargas than LT. He is done. I don't get it.
i didn't say its off base.what i'm saying is the phrase"as early as today"is used to keep people thinking the reporter or station is close to the story when they really have no new info.
Re: The LaDainian Tomlinson Thread [Status: Back to California without a deal] LT is, at least in part, an insurance policy should we lose Leon. He's a great insurance policy. We'll still be drafting a RB, and as you said, the worst case scenario is very limited carries for that rookie this season. Here's a worse one: we don't go after LT, lose Leon, draft a rookie, and are forced to rely heavily on him this season. Shonn gets hurt (which you felt was going to happen incessantly), and suddenly we're relying on a rookie and some scrub to carry the load because we waited too long to sign another member of the rotation. I'll take the worst case scenario from situation 1 over the worst case scenario from situation 2 any day. We ARE ready to compete this season, and LT would provide excellent depth. I'm still surprised we may get him cheaply.
Probably no FA left that we could sign that I would want to sign. If Tomlinson doesn't sign then maybe we can draft another RN that works out as well as Greene did.
Re: The LaDainian Tomlinson Thread [Status: Back to California without a deal] We're going to draft a nurse?
From Cimini: Best chance to make a Super Bowl: Vikings (Easier competition in NFC) Disagree, especially if they lose Favre. Last season showed that the NFC more than caught up with the AFC in terms of talented teams (GB, Cowboys, Eagles, Saints, plus CHI, NYG, and ATL could all be very good as well). Opportunity for most playing time/touches: Jets (No Adrian Peterson) Disagree, AP is injury prone and here he'll have to compete for the #2 spot with Leon whereas in MIN he'd be the clear #2.
^ Leon is #3. Greene goes down, Leon is #2. If the Jets had full confidence in Leon, this shit wouldn't be happening.
Well I'm going to disagree because the jets are in an tougher division imo, and everyone seems to think Favre is going to be back. Vikings were also a much more dominant team than the Jets were last year (ended up #2 seed, stomped the cowboys, and barely lost to the SB Champ Saints). Jets squeezed into the playoffs and got some help. He definitely has the opportunity for more playing time on the jets, as they're willing to run it all game. With Favre in Minn, they'll do a lot more passing, and AP will get all the carries. LT would just be the 3rd down back.
I think he will get more carries then Leon but Leon will get more pass plays. Remember LW got injured on a run play, I know it was a freak accident but hes just a wittle guy and giving him to many carries is scary. I like Leon much more as a dump off passing threat then a rushing threat.
