NFL players are grown men and professional athletes you know. The head coach isn't supposed to be a baby sitter.

According to a pretty good source, LT is going to sign w/the Jets- don't know if it'll be today, but that seems to be his preference

You're right. What he IS supposed to be is a COACH.

I'm not saying that Norv needed to put the condom on Cromartie's dangle every time he went out clubbing. That's not what a coach does.

What a coach IS responsible for is actually GETTING FOOTBALL PLAYERS TO PLAY WELL. If a player doesn't buy into the system, he either gets his ass set straight or he gets his ass on the bench. Don't fucking tell me that the head coach of your football team isn't responsible for the final product that ends up on the field, because it is a homer copout.

But, then, the more I read your posts, the more that kind of thing becomes obvious.

Re: Source: LT to visit Jets on Friday

This makes a hell of a lot more sense than that story did. I've been scratching my head over it intermittently all day.

TJ is a very good pass catching back. Look at how many passes he caught from Favre. To be sure he is not nearly as well rounded as LT. I think most of the time Sanchez just wasn't capable of routinly checking down to a back. The Jets hardly threw to a RB last year, no matter who it was.

There ya go. Yes that does work for me. His receiving skills do play into it.

Either way, LT is a good pickup. I hope this gets done.

I think there could be some truth to it - like, Drew Rosenhaus leaked somethnig like that to Mike Florio and he ran with it. I never saw the article, but in an interview this morning with Boomer and Carton, Boomer asked Tanny point blank if it was true and Tanny said he wasn't going to talk about what discussions he had with Drew and TJ.

But so far I haven't seen anything confirmed by Tanny, TJ or Rosenhaus, so I'm not really going to buy it as a fact. Especially when the only source anyone wants to quote is possibly the least credible source there is.

If there is any justice to Florio getting picked up by NBC Sports, it's that he can't spread bullshit rumors without consequence.

Normally I'd agree, but considering the same exact meltdown has happened under two different coaches, I think it must have more to do with the city and players.

Considering Marty has had Epic Failures everyplace he has been and Norval was essentially a guy who rode the coattails of the Cowboys into head coach failure it's probably the coaches.

He pretty much always runs out of bounds rather than fighting for extra yards to help preserve his body. How do you think he's lasted 9 seasons getting 20-30 carries a game?

Tomlinson had never gotten hurt much until recently. He never missed a game due to injury until 2007 playoffs. Then 2008 he played on an injured toe. Got injured before 2008 playoffs. Injured ankle week 1 of 2009, and rested and stayed healthy the rest of the year playing in a limited role.

Of COURSE it does. It can't possibly be because your team keeps hiring head coaches that have historically been failures in the postseason - can it?

I dont know, that is likely a tweet and i dont follow them. But if she tweeted it i would say it is pretty accurate. LT left Minnesota and is sticking around in NY so that can only be good. Especially if he was scheduled to go to New Orleans and i dont know if he was but he is real good friends with Drew Brees.

But he also wants to play more than be a 3rd down guy too. I dont know what he was told by the Jets in that regard.

    Ok, we agree there :)

The one thing that is of concern is that TJ is very durable while LT has been injured often lately.

tanny and shotty were arguing for over an hour about which tail back to get / keep, TJ or LT.

Finally, Tanny picks up the phone and calls woody johnson.

After hearing from both sides, woody asked "which tail back will sell more PSLs?"

    and there you have it

Norv has historically been a failure in the postseason? He won the superbowl as the OC of the cowboys. Went 1-1 in the playoffs with the redskins. And took us to the afc championship game in his first year here.

Jets appear to be winning LT battle ยป
    BY RICH CIMINI

There's a "possibility" that LaDainian Tomlinson will make a decision tonight, according to a person close to the Tomlinson courtship -- a strong indication that the Jets will prevail over the Vikings for the future Hall-of-Fame running back.

If Tomlinson makes a decision tonight, it's hard to imagine that he'd pick the Vikings, considering he'll be breaking bread with member of the Jets' hierarchy.

    Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2010/03/jets-appear-to-be-winning-lt-b.html#ixzz0i16xansu

i take everything rich says with a grain of salt but i guess any news is good news
