In a Charger forum it is said that Shefter tweeted that Strickland was signed by the Chargers but i see no mention anyplace. You guys heard anything on this and asside from him being dinged up, how is he as a player? I wanted us to sign a vet CB as opposed to a rookie so i would like it but have no idea about Strickland as a player.
What is he like as a player??? Well he can cover ok but he is really good jamming the line and making tackles at the point of attack. Oh he is also more brittle than balsa wood mixed with a rose dipped in liquid nitrogen.
Yeah, he's a good nickel corner when healthy....good blitzer and tackler...but gets hurt way too often to really rely on. Put it this way, the CS should treat him as a luxury on the team.
Dug up this up from Mount Siani Hospital: "Donald Strickland has been a good patient and well liked by the entire staff of nurses, nurses' aids, physical therapists, and physicians"
Stickland's a good cover guy when he's healthy. If he's healthy he'll contribute, but he's a bandaid.
I like Strick, he's not the greatest cover man but he did well against slot receivers. And when you play the Pats, your DC would be smart to play him aggressive against Welker or Edelman or whoever they have in the slot - he was very effective blowing up those bubble screens until Belichick sent an O-lineman to headhunt him.
Good player, good nose for the play, he made some very nice breakups and such, but yeah as all have said, he's just injured way too often. He has NEVER played a full season unfortunately, but you never know.
Well hopefully he stays healthy for one year anyways till they can get another CB and get ouir youngins some experience. We drafted one last year that went on IR in preseason. It will be nice to have CB's that are willing tacklers at least. Cason is a good tackler and if Strickland can stay healthy doing it, then great. We are ahead of the game.
I liked Strickland alot but as others have said 1000000000 times he is just too injury prone to count on game in and game out.
Great? No. Solid cover guy, good run stopper. The problem is, the coaching staff couldn't trust him to complete an entire game... He got hurt like 10 times last year, including in the game we needed him in most, a game where he was named a pre-game captain because he used to be a Colt. Why did the Colts get rid of him? He couldn't stay healthy at all. I think it's a theme. Hope he works out for you because when he played, he was effective.
I loved mr glass I mean stickland. Wish him luck in Spicy San Diego, maybe the warm weather will help keep him on the field.
