You but be honest who didnt know Gholston was going to be a bust. The moment we drafted him I knew he wasnt going to be good. I didnt think he would be this bad obviously but I definetly did not think he would be any kind of any impact player.
Rich, take a day off before writing this piece of crap. Not one word of fact, just some hacks opinion based on nothing but a need to fill space in a newspaper. Geez, I would rather read about the Scouting Combine and after Gholston that whole thing is a bunch of crap
I love how we ruined our whole running game. Most are all worried about Leon being hurt well Greene was hurt twice last year and missed time. I cant see this team dumping Leon, Tony Rich, And TJ
I love these "the sky is falling" prognostications more than anything... the off season is not even close to being over. With our starting O-Line as is right now a servicable back will get over 1000 and 7 to 8 TD's... everyone needs to relax.
You said the other day you understood Abyzmul's continual explanation on why the 2nd round tender was smart. You really don't though do you?
The way Tanny may be thinking is to trade up for the best back in the draft. With this Oline, that may make the most sense. It would make Sanchez better too. Look how good the Jets were when Greene emerged and we didn't have to watch TJ fall down after a yard half the time. The play action got better too. Put another strong fast young guy back there and with our D we can maul people again next year and keep Sanchize fresh all year only throwing it 20-25 times a game.
Gator I agree, but I am not sure about trading up for a back in the draft. I think the Jets are going to use the money they allocated this year for Jones AND Washington and sign LT. Basically the intent will be for LT to spell Greene and give them about 10+ touches a game - figure short yardage, goal-line and catches out of the backfield. Signing LT negates the need for Jones and Leon and they will go in the draft looking to pick-up another back. My guess is that LT will get a 3 year deal and the Jets will ask him to be play the complimentary "Marcus Allen" role in his last few years in KC. The Jets will trade Leon for probably a 3rd this year and low pick next year and be on their merry way. Looking forward, such a trade would give the Jets a full compliment of picks this year and give them most likely two extra lower round picks (minus either a 2nd/3rd for Cro) in 2011.
Wow. What a terrible, terrible decision by Leon and his foolish agent, to turn down last year's contract offer. He may wind up with very little, and if he does not demonstrate durability after his injury, may have lost his chance to be set financially for life. Why did he risk that?
Leon's worth nothing less than a 2nd. I'd run the risk of him coming back less than 100% before giving him up for a 3+7.
You are vastly overrating the worth of a 28 year RB coming off a major injury. RBs are a dime a dozen and the easiest position on the football field to replace...especially when you have a dominant offensive line. Heck, a few years ago - before the injury - Leon was only worth a 4th rd pick we got from the Chiefs for Herm. Now, after injury and mileage, the guy is worth a 2nd pick in the deepest draft (according to the experts) in recent memory? Nope, just another case of Jets fans overvaluing the team's talent. IF they do get a 2nd rd pick - great, I will be esctatic - but to say he is worth nothing less than a 2nd? That is just foolish, especially if you get a 3rd and 7 or some combo thereof.
Yeah, I just did. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=1551519&postcount=3 Unfortunately, it makes even less sense to me now.
From what I gather, he's been trying to track down his e-friend and recently came back here to discover he's posting again.
If I'm beli it's worth a second rd pick to get Leon's talent and hurt a division rival, when I have three picks. The problem is working out a contract that makes it hard for the Jets to match without overpaying.
