I won't pretend to be a draft expert by any stretch, but the talent available in even the 2nd round of this draft is sick. Certain players (like Spikes or Mays) might be taken in the late 1st round of most other years. The Pats could clean up in this draft, it might not make them dangerous for 2010, but they'll look pretty good going forward. All the more reason the Jets need to capitalize NOW, imo.
I think Belichick may end up trading into 2011 with a few of these early picks. Seeing what he did with Seymour to the Raiders for that 2011 1st rounder, it's clear that he is gambling that there will be a rookie pay scale in 2011, and although there is a ton of talent in this draft, there are no real guarantees about any of it translating to the NFL. If BB has a bunch of early picks in 2011 under a new cap, he'd have a LOT of flexibility to sign proven FAs in the future while still drafting a lot of players in the early rounds next year.
That's possible, but you don't know it for sure. It's far safer to assume Brady returns to his old form and plays for a few more years. To counter this the Jets NEED to rebuild their secondary and pass-rush. Remember that Brady had crap WRs for a few years and was still amazing; just because Moss is old and Welker is hurt doesn't mean the offense will necessarily come to a grinding halt. Besides rebuilding their defense, the Jets should retool at RB so they can force other teams to stack the box and give Sanchez an easier time throwing the ball outside the hashes. Edwards could develop into the WR threat Cleveland hoped he would be if Sanchez continues to develop and he finds himself in single coverage.
Kinda like how NY raido always talks about how bad the Jets are. Ratings are made better by beign a negative asshole about your hometwon team more often than beign positive. I'll belive the power shift when we win the division. Untill then we, as well as the phins, are catching up but not thetre yet.
Yup...the division is going to be a battle next year. The Dolphins could def. win 10 games IMO. Once they get Dansby set in their D and those two CB's (Smith, DAvis) develop a little bit more the Dolphins are going to be a damn good football team.
I have to think that Sanchez will be better than he was regular season last year, and you can lay at least three losses on him for last year. Cromartie is a big upgrade. Thomas Jones may have had 1400 yards but no one should call him elite, not when he went down first hit so many times. He is a product of a very good run blocking system, was very durable, did not fumble. All qualities that can be found elsewhere. They still need more but they are better.
Sanchez seems to have shaken that rookie, "I have to make a play out of nothing," mentality. I don't think we'll see him gift INTs this year. If the playoffs were any indication he was drilled to get rid of the ball/eat the sack if there is no play. That right there wins us another 2 games at least. Also consider the field will probably slow down a bit for Mark, making him even more comfortable behind the best OL in the league. I am also confident that Shonn Greene is the next MJD, and that we'll finally dig up a slot receiver in the draft. The Patsies are going to have to go 12-4 to win the division again. I predict the Jets at 11-5 at this point.
I can't wait to see how things pan out the rest of the off season, draft, etc.. Jets are going to bring the pain next year, and the rest of the AFC East knows it.
i don't think we're gonna get much help from the fa market this off-season so , tanny realizes he's gonna have to make some good trades & pick some productive players in the draft to upgrade our roster.
