AFC East Preview Video-mostly Jets Sorry if already posted. Don't get your hopes up... http://media.putfile.com/AFC-East-Preview---NFL-Network
Why was Sterling shouting so much. Didn't they have a microphone for him? I'm getting sick of hearing about how bad the Jets are going to be. I just don't think they're going to be that bad - certainly not as bad as last year.
What i have learned is to never be influenced by the media when it comes to predictions-because quite frankly-they are always wrong. 2 Years ago we were predicted to do nothing, but we won a round in the playoffs. Last year people had us in the superbowl and we went 4-12. Im not saying were going to the super bowl, but who knows
I agree with everything they said. I am first and foremost a JET fan but as much a realist. Miami SHOULD get it done and the Pats have a few of which we have a lot of. That being question marks. We lost A LOT (players, coaches, etc) this year and replaced it with a shit load of uncertainty. I am an avid supporter of the bulk of the moves we saw this off-season and the draft too, kinda, but we should not be expecting GREAT things from our team this year. Hope for it, YES. Just don't expect. Go JETS.
I honestly think that by season's end we will be the second best team in our division. Miami is ridiculously hyped. They have an aging defense, an even more questionable QB situation than us, and they're freaking Miami. I think Jets 8-8, but with a 5-1 run at the end of the season, Miami either 9-7 or 7-9, but again, we'll have that run at the end of the season.
Not sure if many people will agree with me on this, but I still think Pats finish first in the div. The talent they have on that team is great. not huge name players, really big play makers. Brady isnt the most exciting QB but he always (or most of the time) gets the job done. One thing about the Pats is they have alot of under the radar talent. Even with injuries their backups do a job good enough to keep food on the plate. They always find a way and unlike a team that only had one major threat (I.E. San Diego this year with lack of trust in the new QB. Stop LT you stop the Chargers) New England has alot of weapons and can strike on the ground, or in the air, with a defense that makes plays WHEN THEY HAVE TO (fuck the stats) Miami finishes second, but thats simply because Jets and Buffalo wont be doing good this year. Jets finish above Buffalo simply because its the BILLS (Boy I Love Losing Superbowls). It's destiny for Buffalo players to buy more golf equipment then football equipment.
I'm can't say I'm shocked seeing how some people on the board can't believe that the Jets can be that bad. However, optimism is only good until week 1. Then you have to start dealing with the reality of how bad our team is. We're in for another long one, and I agree with Sharpe on that point. We don't have a reliable quarterback (and PLEASE don't tell me Kellen Clemens. Not everyone is Roethlisberger) We have an againg running back coming off of knee surgery. We don't have great wide receivers. I like the changes on the offensive line, but again, I'm not going to say that we have a good line with that many young players. They have to prove something first, but I do like the changes. I don't think we're as bad on defense as Sharpe would suggest. If we're going to win ANY games this year, I think it's going to be off of our defense and turnovers. Mangini's going to install a Patriot-type defenseive scheme, which seems to work for those guys up in Foxboro. The personell isn't as bad as people might think. Vilma, Ellis, Coleman and Dyson could start for most teams in the leauge. That and we have a lot of good role players. Yeah, losing Abe hurts, but I don't think we'll miss him THAT much. Miami is being a BIT overhyped, but not without good reason. I think they're going to be a good football team. Beating the Pats? It's probably too soon to say that, but if it happens, I wouldn't be THAT surprised. Buffalo sucks.
I don't think Miami will be special either but tell me: how are we going to score points? I want to put on the rose colored glasses but here are the facts: our WR corps is below average, not above average. McCareins sucks. Cotchery has not proven anything, and Coles is a decent no. 2. Our TEs are below average. Baker has never been consistently productive-shown flashes, but very few and far between. Jolley sucks. RB is old. Backups are mediocre. Blaylock might be decent. houston is a fumbler. I do not mention rookies because they are the great unknown. I won't even mention QBs. But I would be worried about them if we had a decent support group on offense. But we don't. I think the D can be decent. But how do we score TDs?
Miami is ALWAYS overrated before the season starts. Their media guy must have some hooks in the NFL PR office. They could lose Ronnie Brown, Chris Chambers and Jason Taylor and they would still be rated above the Jets. More reason to loathe the Fins. What a joke!
Our WR corps is average. Coles is certainly a legitimate #1, I agree that McCareins sucks, and I think Cotchery can be quite good if given a chance. He's still very young and developing. The addition of Tim Dwight gave us a solid, speedy 3rd down WR. Our TE's are average, maybe slightly above average. Baker is a good, solid run blocker and pass catcher. He's still young, and his consistency will go up if the offense treats him as a viable option. Jolley was never given a chance, and can be a solid pass catcher. Our RB are also average, maybe slightly above average. Curtis is only two years removed from a rushing title. He played the majority of last season with torn ligaments in his knee. Expect his production to go up if he's healthy. Blaylock is a decent change of pace, and I don't think I've ever seen Houston fumble. Either way, if heathly we have a versatile running attack. An every down slasher, a speedy change of pace guy, and a power back. Since you didn't mention QB's, I won't either. I'm tired of everyone counting Chad out though. Everyone assumes he's done, but what if he's not? He's made this team a winner whenever he's been on the field, and I don't really see that changing. If (When) he goes down, Ramsey is a decent backup. And after all that rambling, I forgot what this post is about. Here are my projections: New England (11-5) Miami (9-7) NYJ (8-8) Buffalo (6-10)
NE ----------- Still the team to beat, significant losses in the FA , but with the drafting of Maroney and Jackson, add alot more validity to the offensive side of the ball for many years to come. Could easily lose half their divisional games, but in all reality still on top. MIA ----------- ALWAYS overhyped, not in the division though. A more than sensible pick to be 2nd in the division, but calling them a top 15 team is a reach. Dont say that to the analysts though. This year we find out if Ronnie Brown can be "THE MAN" without Ricky. But with an aging defesne and Culpepper looking to be a huge question mark can Harrington finally prove his worth to the league? NYJ ----------- Question marks with the new FO bring question marks to the whole team. What kind of offense? What kind of Defense? Penny cant be counted on, Ramsey is almost the same player as Harrington at this point, and we have Clemens/Bollinger. Nobody knows what to expect, so they expect the worst. The RB by committee and drafting of Mangold/Brick could take some pressure off the unsure passing game and with a solid core of defensive players, this team is better than it looks, but not ready to compete. We should at least be better than 4-12 but going 8-8 would be one of the biggest stories in the league this yr. BUFF ----------- They blow, I hate the Phins and Pats more than the Bills but at least I respect them. *THUMBS DOWN* LOL, sorry I just dont have anything to say about Buffalo!:breakdance:
