Ricky Williams is a very similar player to David Boston IMO. Does anyone else see MAJOR similarities here? Both players have very much talent and have had a few pretty good seasons in the NFL and just one OUTSTANDING one. They both have been very slowed by off field problems as well. To think that a Professional football franchise would give up a Day 1 pick for a RB that abruptly ended his pro football career to smoke marijuana in Asia, made a return a year later and then got suspended from the NFL for another season again for weed is absurd. Not to mention that the man will be 30 years old by the time the NFL season in 2007 comes along.
Who here is saying Curtis Martin is a stud RB? We all know hes breaking down, and thats why we were talking about needing another running back to share the load(if Cedric Houston wasnt going to be the guy). It didnt bother me that Ricky Williams had more TDs than Curtis because last I checked, the Dolphins were watching the playoffs too. Whats that been, a 5 yr drought? And btw, Curtis Martin is 3 yrs older than Ricky and has twice as many carries(3518 carries) and yardage(14101 yds) as the mighty Ricky Williams(1757 carries and 7097 yds). Curtis Martin throught the 12 games he played, played injured and with a horrendous o-line and was the feature back. He didnt have Ronnie Brown wearing down defenses for him. Ricky started what, 2 games? He carried a full load twice last season. WOW, WHAT A SAVAGE. Curtis on the other hand didnt have anyone to split carries with. Curtis started all 12 games. Curtis, battered and brokened, "manned up" more in that 1 yr than Ricky has done in his lifetime. Curtis Martin has had twice the career of Ricky Williams. Curtis Martin is twice the man Ricky Williams is.
i dunno why, bu t there is somethin i like about ricky even if he is a fin...he clearly has on field talent, its all the baggage that he has that bothers me.
Blitzkrieg you're crazy if you think Ricky is doing this to stay in shape so that he'll be ready for the Dolphins 2007 season. He's doing this to make money because he hasn't made much or near what he's used to or probably needs to pay back in debts.
Blitz you have a terrible interpretation of who Abraham is as a player. As a person and a team mate almost to a man on this board he is disliked. But as an impact player the guy is a monster, our only knock was that he was hurt too much. But to say he that a late first rounder is WAY over paying for him is so far from a rational thought that you lose some credibility Later....
he's gotta be kickin himself in the azz for the year he "retired" now its two years lost and he is pushin 30. this one doesn't end pretty folks
Thanks for the memories of the 1998 San Fran opener where he torched us to win the game in the final minutes. My arm hair still hasn't grown back. Son of a b*tch.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=2144 He's had his up's and down's, but even his up's are borderlining only 10 sacks a season. For a guy entering his 7th season, and looking at his injury history, it's a lot to give up for Abraham in my opinion. I'm not saying he's washed up, or a poor player, he's very good at what he does, but a 1st rounder just seems like more than a player of his caliber is worthy of....in my opinion.... So I'm going to lose some credibility because I think Abraham is only worth a 2nd round pick??....So be it I guess....
