However, he struggled with press coverage and did drop a few passes. If things don't work out as a wide receiver, the team could decide to take a look at him as a running back. Mangold also took snaps at guard with the team and he could push OG Brandon Moore for a starting role.
1st week at camp learning how to run routes into press coverage... of course he's gonna struggle. As for Mangold... I don't think we drafted him in the first round to be a guard.
Brad smith will be fine, it takes time... And mangold, they are looking at him on how good he really is playing both positions, we teague who is a center and a backup, so its a just in case tactic, injuroes happen god forbid, and the organization needs to know if a starting guard gets hurt, mangold can fit the bill, if any other backup guards cant. Mangold will be our center.
