Jets | B. Smith struggles with press coverage
    Sat, 20 May 2006 10:53:18 -0700

Rich Cimini, writing for the Sporting News, reports New York Jets WR Brad Smith made his debut at wide receiver and showed good speed and cutting ability. However, he struggled with press coverage and did drop a few passes. If things don't work out as a wide receiver, the team could decide to take a look at him as a running back.

Jets | Mangold gets some work at guard

Rich Cimini, writing for the Sporting News, reports New York Jets C Nick Mangold is expected to challenge C Trey Teague. Mangold also took snaps at guard with the team and he could push OG Brandon Moore for a starting role.

Yeah, I'm not worried either. A great athlete is a great athlete and they are human.

Dropped passes could be expected from Smith, it'll take a while to develop WR hands.

1st week at camp learning how to run routes into press coverage... of course he's gonna struggle. As for Mangold... I don't think we drafted him in the first round to be a guard.

Brad smith will be fine, it takes time...

And mangold, they are looking at him on how good he really is playing both positions, we teague who is a center and a backup, so its a just in case tactic, injuroes happen god forbid, and the organization needs to know if a starting guard gets hurt, mangold can fit the bill, if any other backup guards cant.

    Mangold will be our center.
