Don't think it's weed. It probably HGH. He is trying to recover from a quad injury. Trying to play one more year and pocket another couple million before he hangs t up. I don't blame him, too bad he got caught.

We need a fucking nose tackle. Shit.

    Free agent NT Ferguson suspended
    Associated Press

MIAMI -- Free agent Jason Ferguson, a veteran nose tackle most recently with the Miami Dolphins, has been suspended for the first eight games of next season for violating NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed on Sunday that the discipline was handed down late this week but could offer no further details. Ferguson was also suspended for violating NFL drug policy in 1999, sitting out four games after an anabolic steroid showed up during a urine test.

The player's agent, Jimmy Sexton, did not return a call Sunday seeking comment.

Ferguson was sidelined with a season-ending quadriceps injury in November and underwent surgery a month later. The 35-year-old had been in on 23 tackles in nine games for the Dolphins last season. Coach Tony Sparano called him a "heck of a player" at the time of his injury.

A Dolphins spokesman, Harvey Greene, said Ferguson remained a free agent and had not signed a new contract.

"We won't comment because he's not officially on our roster," Greene said. The team has not said whether they planned to re-sign Ferguson for next season.

Ferguson was drafted in 1997, playing eight seasons with the New York Jets and three with the Dallas Cowboys before joining Miami in 2008. He has 325 career tackles.

Ferguson tested positive for marijuana at the scouting combine in 1997. During his 1999 suspension, he passionately denied taking steroids, saying he used a dietary supplement, which he would not identify, but that contained no banned substances.

"People are thinking I'm a drug addict or something like that, and that's ridiculous," Ferguson said at the time. "I read bottles and I know steroids. I didn't take no damn steroids."

You feel bad for him for getting caught? This is the NFL, nobody gives a shit about PEDs. Of course if he were a baseball player, the lynchmob would already be breaking down his door.

Yes but nobody is worried about the tackles by a nose tackle record....if somebody is on the verge of breaking Biggio's HBP in a career and that guy tested posirtive they'll be bloody murder.

Damn, I guess a 36 year old old guy coming off a torn quad and will miss the first 8 games is still important to them.

    Fins re-sign Ferguson despite suspension

    March, 9, 2010

For those who remain unconvinced that nose tackles are critical to a 3-4 defense, consider the Miami Dolphins' decision to re-sign Jason Ferguson.

He's up in years. He's recovering from a torn quadriceps.

And he happens to be suspended for the first eight games of the season.

Still, the Dolphins know a commodity when they see one, and they were compelled to bring Ferguson back. Ferguson will turn 36 in November and was suspended over the weekend for violating the NFL's police on performance-enhancing drugs again.

Dolphins football operations czar Bill Parcells and coach Tony Sparano must not have felt comfortable enough with Paul Soliai moving forward.

Ferguson's return probably doesn't settle the position for Miami. Logic dictates if Soliai was a satisfactory solution for the first eight games, he'd be fine for the whole season. Conversely, eight games is too long of a timeframe for Soliai to keep the position warm for Ferguson.

The Dolphins will need to add depth there, whether it be through free agency or the draft.

For those wondering, Ferguson's suspension doesn't begin until Week 1 of the regular season. He will be allowed to participate in team workouts, including minicamps, training camps and preseason games if he's healthy by then.

Once the suspension starts, however, Ferguson will be forbidden from attending practices and meetings and cannot step foot in the team's facility.
