No-he stinks. That fumble in the playoff ganme was pathetic. He is a greedy malcontent, and not bvery good any more. He was never as good as he or anybody thought he was, and he has made a fine living regardless. Good-bye.
He stinks? wow. So are you suggesting that Brad Smith and/or David Clowney are better receivers than LC?
exactly... it's as if every player we bring in has to be a perennial pro bowler... well guess what, you won't get that from a guy who'll prob make around a mil or two next season. We need competent role players and Coles as a #3 WR is a competent role player...
I'd rather trade a pick to New Orleans and pick up Lance Moore if we were looking for a slot WR with injury problems.
Well New Orleans isnt giving us Moore for a 5th round pick. So are you suggesting youd rather get him for a 2nd round pick over Coles for nothing ?
God no. Coles is done. Tanny got rid of him just when his tank was almost on empty. Let this guy try to bleed another team for a buck.
In 10 regular seasons, he's only lost 1 fumble. Sometimes shit happens. And he didn't look so pathetic when he skunked Lowery on their next possession. IMO Coles would be a great fit. He's an excellent route runner, he's tough, and he can come up with clutch plays. Concussions might be a concern, but the guy has played through injuries his whole career, so anything less than that I'm not worried about. Still, he'd be less of a gamble that an unproven rook or FA.
Coles was always very effective for us. If the price is right and he knows his role on the team, then I'm all for it
no thanks. coles is always complaining about something and is pretty much done. I'd take torry holt over coles. Lance Moore would be an awesome pickup but I'm not sure what it would take to get him from NO.
Coles is done but you'll take Holt over him? I'd take either, but that seems like a ridiculous argument to me.
look at the bigger picture... IF we bring in another WR, that truely dictates a shift from a run first offense to a more balanced attack. 25 runs, 25 throws (this is exactly what Ryan predicted). Moving from Coles to Thomas Jones for a second, IF we bring in a slot guy and run a balanced attack, then Greene/Leon can easily handle the load. Coles in, Jones out. On other hand, if we maintain a run first offense, then Jones stays and Keller plays the slot.
I like Coles a lot, and I think he'd probably be a very solid slot man in the scheme we run. Plus, he knows the offense. With that said, I have no interest in watching his brains leak out of the earhole of his helmet in a Jets uniform. It hurt too much watching that happen with Chrebet, and while the NFL talks a good game in regards to protecting players from concussion, we all know that's all it is - talk.
The only problem is that when it skips off of the turff in week 3, the offense is stuck in the same hole at WR. There has to be another WR getting the axe this offseason who can perform as well as Coles in that role without causing heartbeats to skip after every time he is tackled.
