I tend to agree with you but we don't know if there are more details involved. Maybe they want him to rest the knee for 2 weeks or something to let some swelling/flaring calm down? Maybe it actually is the first time the surgeon is available. Who knows?
Good point... I hadn't thought about that. If there's inflamation, he could be on Celebrex or one of the other anti-inflamatories to get the inflamation or swelling down. Sanchez seems like too smart and ambitious a kid to let the grass grow beneath his feet on this, that's why it made no sense in my mind as to why he would want to postpone it.
The Daily News had great comments from him about it.. .he told the Jet fans to not sweat it he will be ready to go and people in NJ to stop by and bring him ice cream...lol
On TMKS, Sanchez said that for Dr. Montgomery, who is performing the surgery, this procedure is equivalent to a non-doctor brushing his/her teeth; it's that simple. Sanchez sounded very calm and confident about it, and said he won't even need to wear a knee-brace anymore, once the knee is fixed. They're also waiting 2 weeks because they want to give Sanchez a brief vacation before the surgery and rehab begins because once that happens, he'll be working right up until camp. There is absolutely nothing to worry about with this surgery. It's not as complex as ESPN (the drama whores) and Champ (the ultimate darksider) are making it.
From most of what I have read, this sounds like a minimally invasive procedure. What I havent read is anything about "grafting" parts from other places of the body. I'm no doctor though and after doing a little "Google" research found a good article on injuries like this. About 1/2 way down is a section on "Patella Stabilisation" http://www.kneeclinic.info/problems_patello_femoral.php After reading this, it sounds like the rehab might be a little more involved then what we are being told. Guess we'll find out this summer........
