I see it as a two-edged sword. If Ramsey has the breakout year under Shotts, he'll be asking for a ton of cash which we'll either have to cut loose more dead weight (DRob, Askew?) or watch him and his new found confidence go to another team (Bills?). If he has a average year, he still won't be happy sitting the bench in New York. Either way, Bollywood is the odd man out and Chad will have to deal with the new reality.
if ramsey performs well enough to draw attention from another team no way the jets let him walk. they get rid of pennington or bollinger until clemens is ready. thats just my opinion but u covered every angle and quite nicely. if ramsey steps up nicely, and pennington shows no sign of coming back at a respectabale level. it will be funny to watch pennington play hardball yet again. cuz i think that would just be the end of him which would be sad cuz i love the guy but hes about to face reality soon and it will either include him in a jets uniform or him on his couch.`
If Ramsey has a breakout year, it will be because he got two things he's never had before: an offensive system of NFL caliber and some protection in the pocket. He's not going to be anxious to go somewhere else and start over unless the Jets lowball him in negotiations. I think Ramsey's ready to make an upward move. The question I have is -- how well can young Shotty coach without Antonio and Ladainian on his side?
he was just a qb coach, he coached the qbs, he wasn't the o coord and didn't call plays. He didn't have the help of ladanian and gates
Ramsey is only 5 or 6 years older than Clemens, if he plays that well than Clemens will never see the field. You are right though, there's no way that we are getting rid of a good QB because we have a second round pick with some potential on the bench. On a related note the Chargers made a huge mistake when they let Drew Brees walk. And I actually like Rivers a lot--I just don't think that it's ever wise to get rid of a probowler still in his prime because you have a guy with "potential" behind him. Of course Rivers' potential came with a dollar sign, which made a big difference. The Jets don't have that problem with Clemens.
the reason i said "Until Clemens is ready" was taking into mind after they cut penny if Ramsey has some sort of woes 2 yrs from now and they are curious to see what Clemens can do
