I don't think Lito Sheppard was injured today, and they didn't play him much. I guess the writing is on the wall. So who's it gonna be?

Ravens cornerback Fabian Washington should be a free agent, the link to Rex Ryan makes him an obvious candidate. Vikings CB Benny Sapp started seven games this season and I saw him make some impressive plays. Texans CB Dunta Robinson may be available, but I think he may overprice himself.

Yes, I know the Jets may not be eligible to sign free agents, and yes, I know a lot of players who would otherwise become free agents won't since it's the last year of the CBA. Today's game showed a clear lack of talent at corner (beyond the top spot, and excluding the oft-injured Strickland). This looms large as the must-get position of the Jets 2010 offseason.

Hopefully the jets can sign Fabian when we say goodbye to Clemens

Nnamdi is a free agent right? And the Raiders plan on using the franchise on Seymore. Aso has said the Jets D looks fun

If the FO sees this team as being that mythical "one player away", then I expect money to be no issue. If Dunta Robinson is the best, he should be wearing green next season.

Keep in mind that we can't sign another FA unless we lose one.

"On February 19, 2009 the Raiders re-signed Asomugha to a complex three-year deal that makes him the highest paid defensive back in NFL history. The first two years, worth $28.5 million, are fully guaranteed. In the third year of the contract, if Oakland wants to keep Asomugha, it must pay him the average of the top five highest-paid quarterbacks or $16.875 million, whichever is higher. If the Raiders fail to pick up the option, Asomugha will become a free agent with Oakland not having the ability to tag him again"

Sounds like theres another season till hes a FA

I thought Aso signed a huge extension not too long ago?

And unless Braylon is let go or something, we will not be allowed to sign a big name FA...........So we will have to use the draft to get what we need.

As for Fabian Washington, he plays kinda undisciplined for my liking and I don't think many Jet fans will like Fabian's play at times. He is suspect at coverage at times.

No, he is not a FA, and we would have to lose a big FA to get him.

I say we either draft Kyle Wilson in the 2nd, or sign some guy like Dunta Robinson or Fabian Washington after Clemens leaves.

Lowery is a good #3, hopefully Strickland can stay healthy because I really like him

He's not a CB, but I wouldn't mind trading up to get Eric Berry.

Lowery and Strickland are excellent 3 and 4 cbs. Honestly, Drew Coleman sucks but as a #5 can you really get much better? The only guy I'd replace is Lito and if they can get a borderline #1 type corner opposite Revis that would be ideal. Not a fan of Dunta or Benny Sapp. How is Fabian? Haven't kept up on his play in Baltimore.

This will not be a problem. We will lose Clemens and I'm sure we have some practice squad/inactive players that are signed to one year deals that we could get rid of. If we have an eye on a FA, Tanny will get it done somehow

We can't sign ANYONE who is due to become a free agent after the SB. We can only sign players who earn their status by virtue of being cut. That, IMO, is the worst part of the 2010 FA rules.

It's my understanding that we can sign any RFA, though, which is by far the better class this year with the new rules.

Lowery is an amazing 3rd Cb, but Lito just lost his place on the team IMO. If anyone needs to be disciplined i think Rex can handle him. Not only will rex make him a better player. he will make him love him also. REX RYAN FTW

Some Sesame Street from my childhood seems to work here:

One of these things is not like the others. One of these things just doesn't belong.

I know player minimum salaries rise over the years, and I keep wondering what are we paying a guy to longsnap? Dearth has been around forever. I don't care about the money, but if we ever needed the cap room, he is a bit of a luxury.

But I don't think he's been terrible, just too expensive.
