Let's say for argument's sake that the Jets win this Super Bowl...This will be the most UNDER-REPORTED win in the history of modern media!!!!

Is it just me? Outside the NY Media this team has gotten so little press that it is mind boggling. Here we are in the AFC Championship game and I go to the likes of ESPN, CBS Sportline, USA Today etc...and there are literally single minuscule blurbs about the Jets yet I still find 3-4 stories about the Cowboys...same goes for Indy, New Orleans & Minnesota.

I don't care HOW the Jets got into the playoffs...honestly, that's on the Colts and Cincinnati for not doing their jobs. The Jets can't control who those teams put on the field. All they can do is go play who is between the hashes. BUT...after pounding on the Bengals and laying it to the Chargers all talk of "backing" into the playoffs should be shelved. But that is all I read...It's crazy insane!

Is it just me or has anyone else picked up on this? Personally, if the former were to happen and the Jets do this...I want to see every single knucklehead step up and say, "I was wrong"...bow down and kiss the button of Rex Ryan's belly! The funny thing is...and we know how much to take stock in them, but I can see next year's Power Polls too..."The Jets won the Super Bowl but we have them at 5 because......"

Unbelievable the lack of press this team generates outside NY.

    Peace!

    The Mezz

Mezz, I've been thinking the same thing. All I ever see is stories about the Cowboys. It drives me freaking nuts.

They'll cover us when we're champs. They'll have no choice.

Lets give it some due time. The media will play this up as the week progresses. Knowing the intangibles involved, i.e, Jets rematch and controversy of the 'gift' 16th game, Manning facing a D similar to that of the Ravens; possibility of either a rematch with the Saints or facing Brett Favre, lots of intrigue for the press to lick their chops on.
    Give it some time.

Anyway, having experienced the Jets one and only super bowl victory, I like the idea of little press, since at that time, NO ONE gave the Jets a shot and ALL eyes were on Johnny Unitas and whether he would be healthy enough to play in the game ( which he did, eventually).

The less press, the pressure and more focus for the Jets, themselves.

The Jets were getting some serious love on Los Angeles sports talk radio yesterday. They're all building them up as a great story. It could partly be the Mark Sanchez angle, but they're all over this team right now.

Yeah I don't buy it. Jets fans just like to whine. A lot of people are loving us. Bruschi and Billick have already picked us to win. Whatever, I'd rather us sneak through the cracks anyway.

And you KNOW the WHOLE WORLD will STILL be ranting about how we did not belong there.

Honestly what better than to be chronic underdogs... in the media, with the fans, and in football itself.

    Nothing more gratifying.

From a Colts perspective you guys are getting all of the respect you deserve and more. That just comes from being in that East Coast market. Everyone sells Indiana short but we're used to it. You guys have gotten plenty of love, and to be honest those chuckle heads are more often wrong than right. I wouldn't get to overjoyed about their "support".

    This.

Seriously, how much media attention is enough? There are 3 other teams still alive and all 3 won substantially more games than we did. The Jets have played great so far in the Playoffs and people are starting to take notice. The fact that we're even given a chance in this game just shows the amount of respect the team has built in the last 2 games.

Well...then it must just be me out here in California...either that or bad timing checking the sites, because I don't see it. Ce La Vie.

I can relate to everything you’re saying.

Back in the 95-96 season we went on a playoff run for the ages, just as you are now. We were a 9-7 team, with a great defense. You know when you’re a team picking in the top 5 every year you are bound to hit on someone eventually.

We went into San Diego, without Marshall Faulk (1 carry and hurt), and ran all over them. Zack Crockett who had about 1 carry all regular season had a field day on them. Then we went into Kansas City, where no one won in those days, and we outfought the Chiefs in a slugfest.

Finally when we went into Pittsburgh, you would think we were getting respect by then, right? Wrong the media kept saying every week that this was going to be the end of a magical ride for the Colts. There were a few times late in the game where we had it won. By sheer unluckiness we didn’t put the final nail down. Coryatt dropped an interception that would have ended the game, Warren got tackled by his shoe lace on 3rd and 1 and no one was around him – he would have went for big yards and we would have ran the clock out. And finally - the Hail Mary that was almost caught by Bailey, on his back, in the end zone.

That was a magical ride and nobody outside of Indy gave us a chance in any of those games, but we showed up and we played our hearts out. I think the players used the disrespect as fuel. Tony Siragusa even told Collinsworth to keep picking against us.

We are also the least liked cinderalla team EVER. usually the fans root for a team like us but nope. they did an espn poll and asked which of the remaining 4 teams are you rooting for to win the SB. Remember, ROOTING, not who you think will win.

    Saints finished 1st
Jets finished last with about 8% of the vote

Not only does everyone disrespect us but they also don't want to see us win.

I think you hit the nail squarely on the head right there. No one WANTS us to win. Very odd...and I don't understand it. Crazy insane right there.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the Cardinals making it to the Super Bowl last year. It makes sense. You root for a team to do what you guys are doing, but not for it to happen every year. Just my opinion.

Funny though, as I sit here right now, the Jets have the next three topics on the board at ESPN:

    Jets Keys
    Jets D vs Manning
    Jets Colts
