The whole team does need to show up and play hard to win... But who is the X-Factor? The guy that needs to stand out to give the Jets an edge this weekend against the chargers?
Braylon Edwards on offense. On defense, it's Pace. After him, it's Gholston. One of the two highly paid OLBs. I think Pace can do it, but I think we'd win the game if Gholston actually did something.
Im going to say our Defensive linemen need to step up...If we get to Rivers and sack him...We have a great shot. Specifically, Shaun Ellis
I wouldn't call Revis an x-factor, as he has been the most consistent part of the team. Not much variation there.
Your best defense is made @ the D-Line If we can get pressure without having to constantly send extra blitzers that opens up alot more options
I think the players that are gonna have to step up the biggest are the D-backs besides Revis (Revis is a given). Lowery, Strickland, E. Smith, Rhodes and Leonhard are going to have the biggest mismatches on the field against SD's big WRs and Gates. As far as the X-factor - I have a gut feeling that we may see B. Smith come up with another big game this week...
If the Jets dominate the trenches on the offensive side of the ball, we will score on the ground every possession.
Rivers has enough weapons to go everywhere Revis isn't. I think Rex will counter this with moving him around and making Rivers checkdown - keep em guessing
I agree, if the Jets are able to dictate the pace of this game with the O Line and running game, they will grind the life out of the Chargers.
The only way the Jets win this game is if all three phases play to their potential. -Our defense needs to play like they have been recently. Get pressure on the QB and keep Rivers and the WRs in check -Special teams will be key here. We need to improve our ST coverage on KR and PR. We also need Feely to make the FGs and Steve to punt the ball well. A missed snap or a botched hold will cost us the game -Offense needs to run the ball effectively. Sanchez needs to manage the game and limit the mistakes and turnovers. He will need to play as well as he did last week by making bug 3rd down throws when needed. The Jets have been their own worst enemy in nearly every loss we have. I'm very confident in a victory as long as we limit the mistakes and not shoot ourselves in the foot If we play as well as we did last week, with the exception of the FG penalties and the dropped TD by Edwards, we will win the game. Those types of mistakes are the only reason we have lost any games this season.
how about dustin keller having another big game. He could help a ton on play action and keep our run game open.
Keller had a HUGE game last week, no doubt about it. He even had a few key blocks, with one being the reason why Shonn Greene scored on the misdirection pitch. Hopefully Keller and Sanchez are starting a good relationship here, because throughout the season, they haven't been on the same page. So many times the ball has been thrown to Keller and something went wrong, wether Keller ran the wrong route or whatever, it wasn't pretty.
