Does anyone know who will be broadcasting the game on Sunday night? Last week's game might have been the most atrocious broadcasting crew in the history of the NFL, frankly NBC should have been embarrassed about it. Please tell me we are going to get a crew that has at least worked together in the past this week.
Saturday, January 16th Arizona Cardinals at New Orleans Saints (FOX, 4:30pm) - Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa Baltimore Ravens at Indianapolis Colts (CBS, 8:15pm) - Greg Gumbel Dan Dierdorf Sunday, January 17th Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings (FOX, 1pm) - Joe Buck, Troy Aikman NY Jets at San Diego Chargers (CBS, 4:30pm) - Jim Nantz, Phil Simms
I thank the good Lord that I watched the game with my tailgating buddies and most of the game we were too boisterous to really hear any of the crap that was spewing from any of their mouths. What I did hear, however, was a new low for sports broadcasting. A minimal amount of information given to the viewer (injuries, penalties, etc.). An all-around fail by all at NBC involved in this. But, hey, that's NBC for you, right?
Great combo. The clowns last week reminded me of your "talkative but with nothing to really say" uncles getting together in the corner of the room during a family party.
You always get a broadcast that's accurate and informative and two guys who generally don't talk down to their audience, especially Simms. First guy to admit he has screwed something up, and considering how big of blowhards most broadcast guys are, that's huge to me. I think he's the best guy out there now. I hate that prick Dierdorf, his hatred for the Jets is painfully obvious. EDIT: He reminds me of Paul MacGuire back in the late 80s on NBC. Now, that guy despised the Jets.
If you look up the word Theisman in the dictionary you'll see "talkative but with nothing really to say" as the first definition. ESPN let him go for a reason. And that's saying something.
We're the only outdoor game this weekend, too. I think people will be tired of seeing games in dark domes by late Sunday, ready to see some sky and sunshine. I hate watching dome games.
Theisman is terrible. He was just rambling. At one point he said something like this: "It looks like the teams have changed uniforms this week, because last week the Jets dominated the line of scrimmage and this week Carson Palmer is handing the ball off with his other hand because of a torn ligament." WHAT DUDE?
I swear- nothing beats the NFL Network coverage of our Buffalo game for soundbites- "Look, a fumble!!!"
LOL i didn't even realize that until you just said it and its hillarious... i do like this announcing tandem though
I definitely like Simms; I can take or leave Nantz. As to last week, as noted above, Hammond and Theismann were awful, but I thought Gibbs was excellent.
