if this stupid ahole could catch a balloon then i think it would put us over the top, he needs to see that everyone else on the team is doing their part and working towards something special... well the free ride has ended braylon, were gonna need you to keep your eyes on the ball this week the whole way untill its in your hands, not through your hands...i know its close and can be confusing but there is a difference...

He has dropped 3 deep balls that I can think of that a lot of receivers would have caught; even if he caught 2 out of those 3 he would be in a better place.

He CAN catch the ball....Except when his head is back and his chin is up (moon ball...)

Get him open down the field and throw a 40 yard strike...he's good.

Have to find a better candidate for the Lob.

well sanchez deep throws a good moon ball and he needs to be able to catch it like every other deep guy in the league.

    Braylon's Impact

If he dropped some short throws here and their it really wouldn't be that big of a deal, but he's dropping score changers...But him just flying around the field opens things up for Keller and "pillow-hands" Cocth

Edwards is very tough to figure out. I have always been a fan of his, since college at Michigan and he was great. While he never had what you would call fantastic hands, his hands were good enough and he always gets open. With the Jets, he gets open on these deep plays every game it seems and then drops the ball. It's very frustrating because when you see some of the great catches he makes, there is no reason why he shouldn't be holding the ball.

other posters have made similar comments.....

when i played outfield in highschool baseball the toughest catches were the long, lazy pop flys. tons of time to 'think'. too much really.

    on the other hand,

i also played short stop my senior year and when the balls were just a flying at my face, when only my reflexes had time to react, i did much better.

    summary:

send clowney on the deep, 'wait for it' routes.

send braylon on the sharp slants where the ball is drilled into him with no time to think.

I'm waiting on a big Braylon game myself, i'm not saying he will do what Plax did for the Giants against the Packers (10 Catches - took on the whole Packers team himself pretty much), sometime in the Playoffs wherever it's this week against the Chargers or if we actually beat them and advance, there's going to a game where we need to throw the ball to win the game, and Braylon is going to have to come up big ... I think a big game from Braylon is coming up, we need him desperately to produce this weekend, but if we do decide to re-sign him, he's going to need some lessons on catching the ball from Hillard

He is an absurdly talented receiver with his sole problem being the wide-open, over the shoulder catch. I have to believe that this skill is teachable given how he has everything else going for him - size, speed, freakish athleticism, great hands (on short/intermediate routes)...

Okay, you people seriously need to stop putting Keller in with Edwards.

Keller is in his 2nd year at TE. Yes, he's had drops this year and I have crucified him during that stretch. Fortunately for us, he's gotten his shit together down the stretch and in the Playoffs where it matters most. Braylon Edwards has been in the league for 5 years already and dropped TD passes. People need to stop looking at Edwards as he's a rookie. I don't wanna crucify the guy anymore since we're coming off a win, but seriously now, it's evident that this is what he was in Cleveland, this is what he is now, and this is what he's going to be 2-3 years down the line.

Every game? He did it in 3 games that we WON. Games that we likely wouldn't have won without him.
Braylon is 1 year older than Keller, and he hasn't dropped as many passes. Next year, they'll both cut down on drops.

For those of you who want Edwards gone, exactly who should we replace him with? There isn't exactly a stable of equally talented WRs for us to pick from.

I doubt we lose Edwards since we're making a run here in the Playoffs. Of course, I'd...like...to keep him. So as long as he gets paid what he deserves. He clearly doesn't deserve Larry Fitz money. It all depends on how much he's willing to meet this organization halfway. I think he should earn 4-5M per year with incentives that can get him up to as much as 8M on a year-to-year basis. If he thinks he's getting short-changed, we may need to look into other options. I do not know what better options there are out there, since he will be here next season anyway (for yet another tryout--in which I hope he tears it up) as a RFA, but anything can happen 2 off-seasons away whether that's in FA or Draft. One thing is certain, we better not let him hold this FO hostage for a monster contract. It just can't be done.

I'm done bashing him for the week, this win is still very fresh with me. Let's hope he has a better game blocking AND catching next week.

He's only overrated to those who think or thought he's a true #1 receiver. I haven't, so I can't label him overrated. However, is he overrated in our system and for doing the things correctly in what we're asking him to do? Hell no. He's helped out running game greatly and can stretch the field. If only he could be The complete package tho, we'd be set.
