My guess is Teague will start at Center and Mangold at guard with Moore sitting.

We aren't NEAR winning a championship for a couple of years. That's why I stated " Let the rookies play now" We ALL know rooks don't come in NFL ready ( DUH ) but when you are in a rebuilding mode; you need to get them on the feild.

I modified Charles Missant's madden attributes so that they would all be 99, and he was really good after that. He gets my vote.

My Take on the Entire O line

I posted this elsewhere, but I think any dicussion of who should be the starting center is a discussion of the entire O line, by necessity:

LT: Ferguson has to start. He would not learn anything on the bench, it's a no brainer.... however: I expect him to struggle in some games this year. There will be some games where he gets schooled, and it will be big news, with all the "bust" nonsense. He could be that franchise LT pro-bowler, but it won't be this year. The expectations will be unrealistic.

RG: Thank the football gods, Kendall goes back to LG. He can still pull, and is the best run blocking O lineman on the team.

C: I think Teague starts this year. Kendall proved just how important having an experienced guy at center to call the blocking assignments really is in the NFL, and let's not forget the snap fumbles last year. Teague will struggle against powerful 3-4 NT's though. He isn't a strong run blocker either. What he will bring is a cohesiveness and a veteran presence to the O line that was non-existant last year.

LG: Moore.... maybe Mangold? I've seen conflicting reports on whether or not Mangold will be given the chance to win the starting RG spot. Personally, I think Mangold would benefit greatly if he played this year at RG. That would give him a year of experience learning from Teague, and help him make the transition to playing O line in the NFL. I've always looked at Moore as a very average guard. Not bad, not very good, either. Better suited as very high quality depth, rather than a starter. I could also see something of a Moore/Mangold rotation here. Mangold is a beast, speed wise, and as a pulling guard .... it makes me salivate. He, like almost every other OL the Jets have, isn't a good straight ahead run blocker... yet. Like Ferguson, I think he will improve after a year in the NFL in this aspect.

RT: Jones. I still say Jones is out of position here. He's a natural LT. Fast feet, big wingspan, athletic. Can he improve his straight ahead power blocking game? Maybe. I certainly would not say that Jones is any sort of anchor for the running game on the right side. What concerns me even more are the rumors Mangold could start at center, and Teague at RT. We already know Teague isn't a good run blocker. At least Jones has upside here.

Personally, i think that Teague will start week 1; but eventually Mangold will take over. Also, i dont think that he will be making many blocking calls this year. When he does go into play center, Kendall may be making the calls from his guard position and letting Mangold focus on snapping the ball and working on his technique

Kendall couldn't call the blocking assignments as a center last year. Maybe he stayed in a Holiday Inn last night.

Sure, Go ahead and get the QB's killed just because we are rebuilding....

They get on the field when they are READY. Put them out there when they aren't could hurt more than help.

With the rest of the line assesment I agree , but I think if Moore and Mangold go head to head Moore will come out on top. Taking into account that Moore was also one of the few linemen to play the whole tough season for us speaks volumes and Mangini will like that. Toward the end of the season and special teams is where I see Mangold this year. Is it a waste of a round 1 pick? No , but throwing him to the sharks won't do him any good....yet.

It always amazes me how spelling words really upsets some people. I wonder if slash1 tells Hustler of any mis-spells after hes pulled his pud?

Not really, many teams break their centers in at a guard position, even Mawae played guard before moving over.

The main thing is that he starts somewhere on the line.

I agree, small things are spelled differently on each side of the pond and its not really noticeable, Im sory about them theyre clowns. I mean who cares how its spelled, thats what gives us Yanks a bad name.

I definitely don't have an issue with words that are spelled differently because of nationality or location, but I have a problem with people talking about these athletes and thinking they know soooo much about them, when they can't even complete the simple task of spelling the name right. I mean if you can't even remember or know how their name is spelled, what is going to make me think you know what the hell you are talking about?
