well- it just goes to show that if the former regime had a better plan - that had allowed Chad more time to recover from his shoulder surgery, who knows what might have happened? When he first hurt his shoulder, the old regime let him continue to play even though he really needed surgery. It's not 100% clear and probably never will be, whether the continued stress on his arm made things worse. What we do know is that he should have had the Surgery immediately, and not played the rest of 2004. If that had happened, Chad would have been at 100% to start 2005. Again the former regime rushed him back in 2005 - and the results - well, it will be a miracle if he can play ever again. You have to love his tenacity - but when you have a guy like Chad - you need a Head Coach who can put his arm around him, and tell him "Chad, we need you 100%, so get the arm fixed, and we'll be there for you when you are back to normal." Instead he had a Head Coach who allowed him to be in harms way and risked his career for his own job.
Shotgun? Where? I...what? Holy Cr*p... That always rubbed me raw, but I assumed at the time that everyone involved knew what the hell...Whatever. Yep. Anyway, I'm all for underdogs and the sports comeback of the century. Feel free to slap me out of my delusion, but there it is just the same.
he's not gonna see any of it. noodle arm is done. pats never had any respect for his arm before he got the injuries. the new coaching staff is probably against him already, just not saying so publicly.
As much as I like Chad (he is a very good person), I have zero confidence in his arm returning to full strength, and below zero confidence in his ability to stay healthy. He is either the most fragile qb or the most unlucky qb in the league. I tend to lean toward the first.
Me too, I got torched on here for suggesting that Chad should not have any kind of life until he had the surgery and rehabed first , but the bleeding hearts on here tried convincing me that Because he is only on a $64M contract that he should be entitled to some quality family time. Well yeah I would agree with that had he not had such a serious injury and history will tell you what happened next. I like Chad and think his heart and soul are in our team but he has to be honest with himself and us if hes up to the job , again time will tell.
Yeah...I got lit up a bit too for suggesting that Chad shouldnt have waited. The theory should always be..when your getting paid that amount of money..and the teams season is resting on whether you will be in game shape come day one...Football first. In Chads case...it cleary wasnt...and our managements kiss ass style to our players didnt put any pressure on him to get it done. Would he still have gotten hurt? Probably. When it became life and death for his football future the second time though...he had that surgery faster than you can blink an eye. I dont blame him...I blame the management that was more willing to kiss ass than whip it.
I do blame him and the management. Its his body and he should know how he feels. If I had the injury and access to all these top surgeons I would want to know how, long what if etc... and I'll bet the advice given was to have surgery immediately. The management are at fault because they didn't get the best advice and then played him when he clearly wasn't ready and jeopordised a players career.
Not disagreeing with you one bit. Just saying that if you make the call to Chad the day after the season..and Chad informs you that hes going on vacation with his family and will have the surgery a couple weeks after returning...as the GM...you should say...woooowww...wait a minute Chad..thats not good for the team. Guaranteed Bradway or Herm didnt pressure Chad at all..or discuss the ramifications to the team by waiting almost a month. The Jets went out and did everything to make this "the season". They brought in Ty Law to complete the secondary. Yet they allowed their starting QB to go on vacation following the season and then comeback..discuss the surgery and have it done. I do agree Chad has to take some blame. Management though could have put a ton of pressure to make sure it was done faster.
I got in a couple of extended debates about this last season but I honestly believe that Chad would give all the money back if he could start over now with a healthy shoulder. Some people were saying "don't feel sorry for him, he got his millions" but I think it's tragic (not babies with aids in africa, tragic but tragic nevertheless) when someone with world class talent and very obvious passion for what he does has his career cut short. I'm pretty skeptical about him returning but it would be a great day for jets fans if it worked out.
^Yep, to all of that. It isn't as if he doesn't care about competing, being on the field, doing what he loves. Money always takes the edge off, but it doesn't erase everything else when you have the heart of a lion. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=99076&postcount=13
I would never have guessed that, but you know what they say, that you never stop learning about people and their secret sentiments. I mean, what they REALLY think. Hehehe. I will give you this, you haven't waffled or wavered. I can't say I've ever been guilty of that, either.
