How could he be ready? He is 6'4 360 pounds and tore his ACL in a position where explosiveness is so important. ACL's don't heal in a few months, especially to the caliber of a professional athlete.
The 360lbs. man tore his ACL and required surgery. Please, let him run around on it. There won't be any terrible ramifications from that at all. In fact, his rehab should consist of nothing other than skiing moguls or rebound drills against a rotating platoon of Shaq, Sheed, Dwight Howard, and Dikembe Mutumbo. Did you even think before you posted this? You're only an "edit" button away.
He is more like 390 at this point. No doubt he feels okay. He is a millionaire who has had his knee rebuilt and he hasn't gotten hit in months. He probably thinks he can play. Football players are dumb like that. they keep doing things that they shouldn't do. They wind up totally f'd up physically. Ditka has had like 4 hip replacements because he insisted on running on his fake hips cus he felt okay. So he ruined his hips and his legs...
I say if he was half way healthy put him in the game maybe just on 3rd down situations. Who at this point in the season isnt banged up? Tom Brady has broken ribs ... What would you do to win a superbowl is the question... All or nothing is my opinion
I would rather have 80% of the talent in a healthy Pouha playing NT than risk losing big Jenks for another season by putting him in for a couple of snaps Just stay home big fella we need you healthy next year
Too bad we put him on IR. My neighbor is about 6'5" 400 pounds and had his ACL,MCL and PCl tore and was back to jogging 4 miles a day 3 weeks later. The ballet company he dances for wouldn't let him dance for 1 1/2 months. His nutcracker didn't miss a beat............ Jenkins should have never been put on IR. People heal @ different speeds. He could just be a fast healer. 3 months for a 360 pound athlete is cake.
You also have to consider how bad the tear is - did he get a cadaver donor or did they just repair what's in there? Plus, given Jenkin's injury history I'm not convinced he's a real fast healer. Usually not long after you feel good, but it's not running that kills you it's the lateral movements, starting and stopping, etc. I'm not sure ballet is a good example either, it's not exactly 300 pound guys running into each other.
How could anyone read this as him actually being remotely near ready to get on the football field?
I could see why he would say that. These guys live for the playoffs. The competitive nature blinds guys into thinking they can do things that are simply unrealistic. Personally I'd want Jenkins the hell away from a football team. While the Jets have a puncher's chance this year, next year is really when I think you guys are going to be a serious threat. Sanchez needs to be able to do more than Dilfer his way through the playoffs.
Jenkins would definitely help us out, but I would rather have him healthy for next season than risk him re-injuring himself and possibly end his career. Plus the fact that he is on the IR makes this whole debate meaningless
