I hate people blaming Edwards on that play where it hit him in the back, it could have easily been on Sanchez as well.
I thought Sanchez changed the play at the line of scrimage and our fans were being so loud I doubt he heard the change.
to be honest i didn't expect this thread to live on page 1 the next day nor have 3 pages of posts... hmmm lol
Watching Braylon in Cleveland, I have to say he has all the talent needed in the world. He could be an elite WR, right up there with Moss or TO in his heyday. But... Braylon's problem is that he lacks focus and that he has a poor attitude. He can make the circus catch, but his head isn't in the game so he drops dumb passes. Braylon lacks the elite drive to overcome his stonehands problem. He could drill himself over and over and over by catching balls in his free time. That doesn't seem to be a priority for him though. As for his attitude? Hell, I distinctly remember hearing about how he asked a Texans player about modeling and acting between plays. Even "Bottlegate", the incident where someone was fined $1703 for stealing a bottle of water, also appears to be about Edwards as well. Just the other day Edwards decided it would be a good idea to trash the city of Clevleand, saying that he never wanted to be there because he was a Detroit guy and so forth. (Google "Playoff berth gives ex-Cleveland Brown Braylon Edwards a chance to rip his old team," can't post a link.) For the Browns, Edwards was basically a locker room cancer. We were a crap organization for many years and are now only showing signs of life. How Edwards handled himself while he was here concerns me for your time. I'm not going to lie and say Cleveland is the perfect dream city, but the way he conducted himself is troubling. However, If Coach Ryan can beat some sense into Edwards, you will have gotten an absurd steal. No one denies Edwards has the talent. The mental aspect? It's iffy. If Coach Ryan can't tame Edwards...it becomes a hard question if you should seriously re-sign him next year. I really don't believe he (as is) is worth the $8 million per year money or whatever it is people think he is going to ask for. As stupid as it sounds, I think you let him walk rather than be a salary cap albatross. I have real concerns that he will turn on this team if adversity rears its head for more than a season.
Werd. Catch that damned football, Braylon. You're best known for your blocking right now. Think about that.
The question is, should the Jets pay "upper echolon wide reciever money" to a "blocking tight end". I see this as a potential big problem after the season.
That play was obviosly a miscommunication. Sanchez checked off and Braylon didn't pick it up, for whatever reason. The old time Jet fans will remember Namath hitting Matt Snell in the middle of the ass.
He's been nothing but a model citizen since he came to the Jets. I think Rex is a strong enough personality that if Edwards does get out of line, Rex will set his ass straight. But I don't see that happening, I think we're gonna be a playoff contender every season for the foreseeable future and I think him and Sanchez are gonna develop tremendous chemistry with a full offseason/training camp together. I'm not worried about Edwards ever being a problem for the Jets...at least not in the locker room. Contractually that might be a testy situation but hopefully that'll be addressed after next season (he's a RFA he'll have a chance to prove hes worth big money after 2010)
Braylon Will Do His Thing. He Got Way To Much Talent For It To Go To The Wasteside. No Drop Balls. Think Endzone J-e-t-s Jets Jets Jets Jets Jets
