I found out later in life that one of my grandfathers, whom I knew well, was a Dodger fan back in the old days before rooting for the Mets. I knew nothing of the history when I was ten, I started watching baseball in 1975, had only seen the Reds win, hated them, and I already hated the Yankees. My 10-year-old thought process went as follows: -Mets traded Kingman (and Seaver the same day), I'm done here. -Hate the Yankees and the AL (still do) -Can't pick another NL East team, already hated them all -Looked in the paper (June 15, 1977), saw LA about 10 games ahead of the Reds in the old NL West, they wore blue like the Mets and had an Italian manager. Done deal. That summer my family took a vacation to California, then the Dodgers went on the play the Phillies and Yankees in the next two post-seasons, teams I hated, I've never looked back. EDIT: Just realized that's a lot of hate for a 10-year-old, but it prepared me well for the next 30 years of being a Jet fan.
I'm glad it's bumped so we can see the type of phony fan KillerI9590 is. He's a disgrace and should be banned from posting here. I clicked his profile and saw more posts by him and he just continues to post as if he never betrayed the Jets like he did. Shame on him.
And I hoped this guy enjoyed the final home game for the NY Giants as they laid the biggest stink of an egg against the Panthers. Their playoff hopes are done and win or lose this coming Sunday Night. The Jets have destiny in their own hands.
