With the recent play of Brad Smith, especially in the "Seminole", should he be given the first opportunity to run this offense next year? Leon ran it before his injury, but Smith seems to be doing a damn good job with it. Leon could then take the role of Ricky williams in the Dolphins wildcat, where he is the motion guy. With Smith's QB background, i believe he adds something to the scheme in the fact he can throw better than most that run the scheme.

what i think would be really interesting is to brad run the option with leon as the option man....that would be lethal

i said in another post, that something like this would be great.

Rex loves a ball controlled, run first offense.

Shotty loves a new-age, shift, formations, reverses, ticker tape offense.

so Rex tells Shotty to leave shanchez alone but to have at it with smith/woodhead/leon for 4-6 trick plays per game.

I remeber the post. I just wanted to put it out there for a debate between Leon and Smith. Who is better suited to run this style of offense? We can use Smith as a true QB in this offense to throw the D off. right now the teams that use this scheme, line a RB, or in our case a WR, up behind center. We have an actual college QB lining up there right now. If we could run a standard shotgun pass play from this offense, with routes we know Smith can hit, people wouldn't know what to line up for. Right now the scheme is set as a run first play. If we altered it to actually be a legit pass/run offense we would add a dimention Miami or anyother team doesn't have yet. IMO Leon may not have the QB vision to accomplish this.

Brad Smith has been performing very well when he is not playing WR. He definitely deserves more touches than what he is getting and we need the wildcat formation a little more in the games. Brad Smith has pretty good speed and some nifty moves that are necessary for a wildcat QB. Smith can also pass and I can assure he is a better passer than any RB in the league. So, yes, Smith should start the seminole offense.

Next season's Seminole QBs should be Smith and Washington, just like this year. The point of giving the ball to Washington in the Seminole is it's yet another way to give the ball to our biggest offensive playmaker. Don't scrap it unless he can't come back from injury.

Woodhead will not make the team next year. He is not an NFL player and with a healthy stable of RBs, Woodhead is back on the practice squad or out of the NFL. He is just not that good. He's a good story, but not a good player.

Woodhead has made some good plays as a wideout when given the chance.

Brad needs more touches- whether it's the seminole, KRs, screens, ... he needs more touches. Good things seem to happen when he touches it.

Couldn't agree with you more. If you took Jarvis Edison, Jason Batemans character, from Necessary Roughness, and put him in the NFL thats the type of player he would be.

I really thought they should have signed a 3rd RB once Leon went down. I thought about former FSU running back Lorenzo Booker Not really to get snaps during the game, but, just as an insurance policy to Greene and Jones.

So if they run the shotgun only with Ainge, can we call it the "Volunteer"?

And if Vernon Gholston ever records a sack we will call it 2012.

Brad went on ESPN radio this week and they asked him to name the formation since the Seminole didn't make sense anymore. He called it "The TigerCat"

i don't really get the whold wildcat and why it is so effective. replacing the qb with a running back? if it works, i guess it works.

makes me think back to the Falcon glory days with the dog killer at QB....seems like that would have been a 'wildcat' deal every snap.

What made it effective was the extra blocker in on every play. You're now looking at a 11-11 match up instead of a 10-11 match up with the QB handing the ball off.

Diff between Vick-era Falcons and the wildcat: the wildcat runs called running plays. Vick's runs were occasionally called, but mostly scrambles when he couldn't read the secondary..
