Assuming the Jets go up big against the Bengals AND the Bengals are playing their second team do we then reign it in so we don't expose our playbook any more than we have to? Seeing as how if we win we play them WC round what do we do?

I would say up big is 21 + points.

Just for discussion what if we go up big and the Bengals have some first teamers in there. Then what do you think?

Run a little, then run a little more, mix in a little run and then throw a run play at them.

Reign what in? We aren't exactly an offensive juggernaut here, handing it off and short passing isn't exactly giving away the farm. And Schotty's little bag of tricks scares nobody.

What? We aren't the AFC East Champions?! I thought we clinched a playoff spot last week already.

the jets won't be up big so i don't think this matters, but of course if the game is taken care off and your playing the same team the next week you don't show them anything new.

That's Marvin Lewis on the other side. We aren't fooling him with our blitz packages.

Seriously, what ever happened to the multiple shifts during pre-snaps when Penne was behind center?

I thought it might confuse the defense although it rarely resulted in a play that actually worked.

i don't think the blitz packages themselves will fool him but its a matter of when we blitz with what personell and what coverage is behind it....

this changes from game to game depending on the opponent

your arguing against yourself now. if we aren't fooling with our blitz packages and the timing of blitzes changes from game to game what type of play calling is this thread about if not the offensive playcalling? special teams maybe? no i don't think running a new fake punt is a good idea if we are up 20.

I think defensively we won't see the complex blitzes if we get a lead.

Slow it down a little sure. Most teams get more conservative in blowouts, and we definitely should.

We have no room for error. We don't really have the luxery to sit our starters, we have to make sure we get in. You can't sit our starters, the second we do, we lose. We gotta go balls to the wall and ensure a playoff birth. We are not the Colts, Bengals, Chargers, or Patriots. They have done what is neccessary to have that option, we haven't.

if we are up big we will just continue to run the ball which will most likely be how we got up big in the first play. Jets dont have many surprises, they know we are going to run.

Let's worry about building that "big" lead first. It's not like the Jets are a particularly dominant offensive team. We haven't scored 30 points since the Oakland game, and of the 29 we scored last week, 16 came on special teams and defensive TDs. I'm more worried about getting to 21 than winning by 21.
