I think that next year will be Jonathon's breakout year. He is my sleepr pick for defensive player of the year, and under mangini he has the potential to be an all time great. his sideline to sideline speed is unmatched, and i think right now he is a top 5 linebacker.

We'll see. How do you think he'll fit in with the new scheme? Think he'll get more/less tackles?

Jamie Sharper led the league in tackles 2 seasons ago and he played in the 3-4.

Sharper's group of linebackers arent as good Barton,Hobson, and Thomas. He was probably the only notable lb on the team.

I guarentee any LB that started on tha team will be better then the Brian Thomas experiment. Hobson is an average LB at BEST, he lost his job to Mark Brown. And Barton is a solid player. Houston had James Posey who is better than any of the three guys I just mentioned. Give me a break.

Also, if Vilma is taking on blockers a lot more than we may be in trouble, that is obioulsy not his strength given the fact he is not the biggest or strongest

Posey isnt even on Barton's level, did u forget he led our team in tackles in 04 that same year posey had 65 to Barton's 107.

    Um, no.

And how are you judging the Jets linebackers in a 3-4? Hey Big Derty, how many times have you seen them in a 3-4? None, so be quiet. The Texans linebackers were horrendous not to mention tackle is a completely overrated stat. Thats why each website has different amount totaled.

Donnie Edwards had 150 in a 3-4 in 2004. 2nd in the NFL.

3 3-4 ILB's headed the league in tackles in 2003. Ray Lewis, Jamie Sharper and Donnie Edwards again. A system will influence stats, but not dictate them.

And just for the record, James Posey is a basketball player.

I think he will still play incredible football, but with the new system he probably wont have near the same stats and hopefully not as many rushers will get to the second level so he can make all those tackles

Hobson didn't lose his job? I think you mean Barton who was hurt was replaced by Mark Brown...

I think he's talking about two seasons ago where Donnie Henderson spelled Hobson at times and put in Brown more often.

If the Jets go to a 3-4 most likely Vilma will have a less effective season a lot like Ray Lewis did when the Ravens went to the 3-4. He won't get as many tackles, his lack of size will be mroe of a factor and speed will be somewhat negated.
