He can throw the ball in the cold and in the wind of the Meadowlands. He has a rocket arm that can play in December in New York. That was great to see. All of his mistakes were mental ones, not physical ones (aka Chad's problems). They can be fixed. Coming from USC, I was not sure if he could play in the cold or wind and he seemed to be alright today.
Very good point. I'd say that question was answered solidly at least. He was throwing lasers all around, even if they were occasionally to the wrong team.
no positive here... It's scary, shame on the offense that they couldn't put another score to help there defense out.
The kid has a wicked arm, some of the prettiest passes I have ever seen. He threw the ball well with the weather conditions being the way they were ats_suck:ats_suck:
I do not want to hear one positive right now. I am not writing his career off. But he has happy feet and his decision making is terrible right now. He has a ton to learn.
Yeah 3 picks that is positive alright. When he threw that last pick you could totally see Rex saying "Fucking Sanchez" That is very positve. It is hard not to say this team is cursed. #1 overall defense #1 rushing attack and they still can't win a game that they control for 58 min. and some change. This loss hurts and there is no positives to draw from it. Oh wait there is one! They will get theirs next year.
I made the thread and I think it makes a good point. The point is, with more experience and a better grasp of the NFL, Sanchez can be a great QB. We don't have to worry about his arm strength while playing in the wind or cold. People writing his career off is what makes me sick.
Well, the offense put together three scores to help the defense out. The special teams just couldn't convert on them. 0 for 3 on field goal tries is an embarrassment. If the offense is guilty of anything, it's the plays leading to the first failed field goal. Complete failure to move the line of scrimmage on third down, leading to the HC having no confidence to go for it on fourth. I wanted them to go for it on fourth, I'm really not afraid to give other teams the ball with 98 yards to go and this defense smelling safety. But nobody could've predicted the botched snap. It happens. Sanchez really seems to have embraced the idea of being a cold-weather quarterback. I'm reminded of Aaron Rodgers, who went to Cal but after a few years in Green Bay looks like a born mountain man. There's an adjustment to be made, but it's fine if you embrace it, and Sanchez seems to have that mindset. I'd be interested to hear his comments from postgame, but I saw no evidence that the wind had any real effect on his passing. The story for Sanchez today was the same as it's been. He can make some great throws, but he shows sometimes that he really just isn't quite up to speed with his decision making yet. For the most part he played a pretty good game today, he completed a lot of passes, made some tough third downs, and delivered the one long play that ended up being our only points. The first and last interceptions in particular, he might have had a window, but if he did, he was too late pulling the trigger. That stuff can, and should, get better, but only time will tell. I have a hard time vilifying Sanchez on this one. The Jets could've had just as many interceptions off Ryan as the Falcons got off Sanchez if they, the home team who's supposed to have an advantage in this weather, could hold onto the ball. The lack of turnovers is an odd trend in this defense. If you can bottle a team up the way the Jets do, you should be able to occasionally get to the quarterback and/or force an errant throw and get a handle on the ball. But today, like so many of the previous weeks, the Jets gave up no yardage, but created no turnovers or even sacks. Leonhard's a great player, had a great game for the most part, but come on, hold onto the ball when it hits you in the chest! That was on like the 30 yard line too. There were others, Revis, David Harris, Lito Sheppard. Being the best in the league in yardage is a positive, no doubt, but to be the best defense in the league, you have to produce turnovers, and the Jets, for some reason, don't.
It has been an odd function of this defense that we haven't netted many turnovers at all. Turnovers is one of the game changers you can't account for, no matter how good or bad a team is. And for some reason, the D this year didn't get many sacks or turnovers. Go figure.
I was very happy to see him sling that ball in a bad weather condition day after an INT... But the body language has to stop...Eli Manning esque...STOP.
that's very true. we need another game breaker on that d, and ryan kind of hinted at it in his post game today.
I agree completely. Thought the same thing today. Gotta show confidence. He is looking like the wrong Manning right now.
Eli Manning is excellent in the 2 minute drill, even when he has struggled. Sanchez hasn't really shown he is able to do that to this point.
Thats an understatement. He is a rookie and he is not comfortable throwing the ball and he makes mistakes.
