I know we must have some Favre trolls left over. Give me the skinny on Charles Woodson. Is he really dominating? He's number five on King Peter's MVP poll. I find it incredibly hard to believe that a cornerback other than Darrelle Revis should be in consideration, but then again, I haven't watched many Pack games. I watched the highlights from the Chi-GB game. I feel like he might be getting cred because of the stats, not the value. He had a pick and some nice pass break-ups, but I also saw him get beat by a rookie wide out for a long gain, then get beat by a third stringer for a touchdown on the very next play.
I watch a lot of Green Bay games, and yes Charles Woodson has been flat out amazing. Especially over the last 6 games or so.
According to (not completely objective) stats by Pro Football Focus, Revis is indeed the best COVER corner in the game this year, but Woodson has been absolutely dominant everywhere else, occasional pass rush, coming up and stomping out the run, etc. http://profootballfocus.com/by_posi...e=r&runpass=&teamid=-1&numsnaps=25&numgames=1
woodson has more INTs, FF, and sacks. Revis has the most passes defensed in the league by far (27 to Leon Hall's 19) and has shut down way more top flight receivers. unfortunatley you cant put receivers shut down into any kind of concrete stat category. I obviously give my vote to revis because i watch him play every game and see the huge impact he has on our defense.
Obviously me... I watch every Jet and Packer game unless they're on at the same time..then it's the gang green. I have heard a few people on tv say Woodson and Revis are the 2 best corners in the game and that's true. Everything that was stated above this post is accurate. Also, the Packers wouldn't be in playoff CONTENTION if it weren't for how dominant Woodson is. IDK why QB's throw at him. Side note, Clay Matthews is an absolute monster. He is easily already the 2nd best defensive player for Green Bay.
Clay Matthews has been freakin' awesome. If it weren't for Brian Cushing, Percy Harvin and Jairus Byrd (who are all having OUTSTANDING seasons) - Matthews would be the DRPOY easily.
The PD's are amazing and you can see the stats of the opposing player when facing Revis. He'd obviously have more INT's if he was thrown at more and with 2 less interceptions he has almost the some amount of yardage gained. I'm obviously biased here, they are both great. Woodson is 33, when was 24 he was no where close to the player Revis is. So that just shows how great Revis will be in the future too.
They blitz Woodson because he is not the best cover corner in the league. If Ryan blitzed Revis (he SHOULDNT) then they would have similar stats.
