So....going into last night's game all I need is 15 points out of Kurt Warner, Anquan Boldin and Tim Hightower combined to advance to the semis. 15 POINTS! These guys usually get at least 10 a game minimum with Warner just killing it every week lately and as you all know, they all collectively shit the bed and I lost. I knew as soon as Hightower fumbled on the first play I was in trouble, but 7 fucking turnovers?? 5 by my guys? That's -10 right there. That was the equivalent of a horrible beat in a game of Hold 'Em or Omaha.
Ouch, that sucks. Not sure if my story tops that, but here is how you dont make the playoffs, period. In a league where the top 6 teams make the playoffs, score the 5th most in the league and but have the 2nd most points scored against you. I scored 200 more points then the 2nd place player(8-5) and finished in dead last (10th place) at 4-9. I lost 7 games by less then 10 points, 5 of them by less then 5 points. That's how you go out. Sucks....
Hahahahahaha. I had those exact same players, except I benched Hightower for Quinton Ganther. Except I needed 110 points from those 2 guys (Warner and Boldin). Needless to say, that didn't happen either.
thats 2...3 can be a problem but I stay away from that. I'm number 1 in my league because I don't have any players on the same team and every player I have has to keep playing throughout the whole season. That's why I don't like to draft Manning or Brees
I finished first in scoring in my $10 league, but finished 8-5 as the 5th seed of 6 and got eliminated in the first round because the other guy had Dallas Clark (22.30 pts), Jamaal Charles (23.10 pts) and the Jets D (20.00) pts. Then in RoyalTee's 16 man league, I finished tied for 2nd overall in pts but finished 7-7 as the 8th seed out of 8. And of course the #1 seed is the league's leading scorer, too. Really hoping I can step it up and not lose next (the first round of the playoffs). It's crazy that my two teams where I'm top two in scoring get 8/8 seed and 5/6 seed and one first round elimination while my team that is 7th out of 10 in scoring gets the 4th seed in a 4-team playoff.
Warner and Boldin have carried me a majority of the year (I did go 8-5), and since Michael Turner got hurt, my backs are L. McCoy, B. Wells, T. Hightower, C. Brown and S. Greene. So, tell me out of those 5 which 2 do I start? And before you kill me for not starting Beanie, please realize he had 6 points combined the previous 2 weeks and was a fumbling machine. Oh...and my other league ($125 entry fee) I got eliminated because of Favre's "garbage time" TD pass with about :45 left on that Sunday night game vs. Arizona. I lost 140-135. I had the most points in that league and finished fifth in a league where only the top 4 make it to the playoffs. Not a good fantasy league season for me.
Thank you. My other league I had A. Rodgers and D. Driver and most weeks that was a money combo. I try to get combos from teams that are going to average at least 24 points a game.
I think the owners of Randy Moss that lost in the playoffs thanks to him being a baby understands how you feel. Needed 5 points to advance with him, he didn't even net me one.
I have a classic loss. Thought I made the Championship game in a money league. Just found out they changed one of Kurt Warner's TD passes to a lateral and have lost by .5 points. Nice. Checked it, wound up losing by .26....LOL
I'm in 4 leagues, this one happens to be a $130 12 team league...I usually end up screwing myself with trades, but this year in this league, through trades I was able to build the following team by the end: Rodgers Peterson LT Andre Johnson Marshall Jennings Fred Davis Jets D Hartley Sounds unbeatable right? Well by the end of the season it was. CBS has this thing in the standings called Breakdown, which can tell you how you would have done against every team if you played every team every week. First off, I scored the most points in the league and had the most scored against me. I am currently in EIGHTH place at 7-8 because I lost too many games by less than a couple of points! The Breakdown says I would be 105-60 on the season, and my friend is trying to tell me that my team is average at best and I'm right where I should be in the standings.
That is why head to head sucks, but that is the way it is. One league I am in moved to a double header format to ensure that the good teams get in. I you have a great week and just run into a team that has a record week, you can still salvage your good week but winning the other game. I think it brings balance to the league.
Here's a spectacular way to loose a championship game: I benched Roddy White for MSW. Roddy had 25.9, MSW has 1.9. /thread
I wouldn't call this spectacular but more a hard-to-believe...two years in a row I've been knocked out in the semis of one league because BOTH my top RB's got hurt on the eve of the playoffs - Gore and Jacobs last year, Ronnie Brown and Michael Turner this year. That's even worse than some other guy in the league above who picked up Donnie Avery and benched Vincent Jackson in the first round of the playoffs when Avery was playing Tennessee with a third-string QB and Jackson's been his main guy the whole year. Sure enough, Jackson gets 12 points compared to Avery's 1.4 and the guy winds up losing by less than two points in a shootout.
I thought I was done but I somehow squeezed out a win by 1.5 points! McNabb, Fitzgerald, Beanie, and the SF D came through in the clutch for the Sunday afternoon games.
