yes I read, it makes a tongue in cheek remard that perhaps Ryan is listening to his beat writers as Cimini suggested today that we should be able to beat Tampa w anyone at QB. The second 1/2 of article mentions that missing this weekend could signal the end of season for Sanchez because if we lose we are pretty much done. Nothing to do with injury just that the Jets might air on the side of extreme caution if we lose Sunday.
As of 12:51 AM on December 10, the Jets are favored by 3 points by everyone. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/odds http://www.docsports.com/nfl-odds.html
hey my bad for jumping down your throat man, i was pretty blazed at the time and saw the title and was like wtf thats ridiculous. im sorry, lets be friends.
Baloney. There is plenty that he can learn. He is a rookie and he hasn't exactly lit the world on fire. Unless there is a medical reason for him not to make the trip I think he should be with the team and helping them to win. Whatever happened to being there to help his team, help with the pre-game preparations, helping Clemens between series and showing leadership from the sidelines? Is it only about what is good for Sanchez? Kris Jenkins has been there supporting the team in everyway possible since his injury. If there is a medical reason he shouldn't travel fine. But if its just because there is nothing in it for him personally then I think he should be there. He is the future leader of this franchise.
Rex said Mark fought him about him sitting this weekend. I feel like this is just a precaution becuase he believes without mark we will win at tampa. He wants mark to be fine for the falcons game so hes giving him an extra week.
It's probably just because he'll be back at the training facility getting a couple of extra days of rehab while the team travels to Tampa and plays in the game.
Completely disagree. Sanchez already gets a zillion hours a week with film. I DO think that just being on the sidelines attched to the CS's hip during a game would be much more valuable than sitting in a film room. That hasn't exactly helped him develop so far as I can tell. Being on the sidelines, watching another QB in game time, running HIS offense, talking to coaches.... he can't get that from film. If it's just a mild sprain, then he can't travel with the team? There is more to this than meets the eye. What it is, I don't know.
See thats what I think as well. If its a mild sprain why isn't he with the team, learning, participating, supporting, helping Clemens etc.? Thats a helluva a lot more valuable to the team than it is to have MS sitting in Jersey by himself. I don't like it at all.
He's going to be back getting treatment on his knee. People read too much into this stuff. Would you rather have him getting treatment on his knee for an extra two days or standing around on the sidelines? I would prefer he be as healthy as possible for the last three games of the season instead.
If theres a medical reason than that makes sense if he can heal up faster by not making the trip. Still if its just a mild sprain as reported you'd think he'd want to be with the team and that he could take treatment in TB. If its just a mild sprain what would be the treatment anyway? Ice and Rest?
Not blaming the OP as he did post RUMOR. That being said this snippet is some of the biggest speculative shit I've ever seen, and frankly it's almost irresponsible. I expect this from PFT, but I thought the "worldwide leader" was above sensationalist headlines in order to get people to pay to read they're shit. Unfortunately I do pay but I pooled the cost with three other people so we get it really cheap because I do like reading Olney and some of their baseball stuff. But this is a load of shit.
it makes sense to leave Sanchez home for two reasons: 1- gives him 3 days to rehab. No travel, no planes, no hotels, no funny beds, no strippers, no fans throwing hot dogs at him on the sidelines.... 2- much more important, it removes a HUGE distraction from the whole week, including practice and game time. The players KNOW they sink or swim with KC. That's huge. if MS were on the sidelines it would be a game day distraction for the players and especially KC. edit: plus it gives Ainge a chance to hold the clip board and look important. That's valuable experience for our future backup QB.
He has a condition with his kneecap that causes it to slightly dislocate and snap right back into place (called subluxation). The orthepedist we use called it having "loose" kneecaps. Unfortunately, when it happens there is swelling and you miss a day or two of practice usually. In the pros maybe just a day. The brace does not allow the patela to move laterally, so it stops this from happening alltogether. My son has the same issue and has worn the same type of brace for the last 2 years playing high school ball...and it is mostly prophylactic.
It absolutely does not make sense for Sanchez to stay home. His biggest problem is that the game hasn't slowed down for him. He should be next to BS the whole game. A real game speed, real time decision experience like that is priceless and there's no way watching film compares to it. How you miss this teaching opportunity I don't understand.
Totally agree. Sanchez would learn SO MUCH more standing next to Schotty than sitting in a film room. He gets to see the process of play selection, the reasoning behind it... ask why it's being called... understand what weakness on the defense we're trying to exploit... then he gets to watch the play develop, imagining what HE would do as opposed to what is happening in real time... sort of an out of body experience, like watching yourself from the sidelines. That kind of experience RARELY presents itself in a real, live game (that counts). Clemens and Ainge benefit too, as they can talk about this and that on the sidelines with Saviorez. I still say there is more to this injury than we're hearing about. Tampon Bay is only a 2 1/2 hour flight. You can't fly him in for 24 hours and still get him some rehab over the weekend? On Friday it was a mild sprain, now he can't even fly down for fear of missing rehab. No, something's going on here. This sprain is more severe than everyone is letting on.
A lot of people seem to be making the assumption that Sanchez is not going to be on the sideline. The fact that he won't be traveling with the team doesn't mean he won't be there. I would prefer that he traveled with the team and tried to help them prepare, however. If he just shows up at the stadium on Sunday to stand the sidelines and doesn't take an active role, that's probably not a good sign.
I think that's exactly what Dave Hutchinson is saying in this video: http://tribeca.vidavee.com/advance/doc/35B3FF092BB5D780B4890A0BBE348DB2?AF_deliveryChannel=play
Hutchinson speculates: "Rex Ryan is still annoyed with Sanchez for sliding head first. You can't fine these guys enough money because they're making so much, so the way to hurt Mark Sanchez is to sit him down." I think I would have sat him but I'd also have him on the sidelines. Maybe that will still be the case... we'll have to wait and see.
