Yes, the quarterback position is occupying quite a bit of time for the Jets brass these days. Along with those two developments, comes a report that the Jets are talking to the Redskins about acquiring Patrick Ramsey. Hopefully that is just a last resort plan, as I would much rather go with Bollinger and Cutler instead of giving up something for Ramsey. Ramsey hasn't shown much, especially considering the fact he was beat out for the Washington starting job by Mark Brunell. Right now though, the focus is clearly on getting a deal done with Pennington. The two sides will meet at the combine today, a sign that the parties may be a bit closer to an agreement. It could be decided one way or another today if Pennington will remain with Gang Green. Obviously the Jets are dead set on saving a bunch of money in this deal, or Pennington will be playing elsewhere next season. Talks with the representatives for Coles, Mawae, Kendall and Robertson also continue so the team can shave more money off the cap. The start of the new league season is fast approaching and the Jets are in serious "save" mode
It would be a huge mistake if we gave up any sort of draft pick for Ramsey. He's not good at all. If you want a stop gap QB, sign a veteran FA.
As I have always said and will continue to say Ramsey is a waste, I would not NOT trade for him because the skins are going to release him if they can't trade him in time for the draft. If we can't sign a vet by that time then we can start looking at players that other teams cut. I live in the dc metro area and its common knowledge around here that ramsey will get cut if they can't trade him.
I honestly think he can be a good QB, everybody is taking what gibbs says because he is a hall of fame coach, and what he says is golden ha. People get old and loose their edge and i think gibbs is headed that way. How many players are disgruntled or in trouble in washington? Many. Ramsey does not want to be there and it shows in his playing time. Ramsey was drafted for a reason... And i think givin another chance somewhere else i think he can do good. But i wont cry if we do not pursue him.
No way no Patrick Ramsey hes terrible i dont want to hear about any trade talks involvin him with the Jets.
