Running back Thomas Jones gives his all to New York Jets on and off the field Rich Cimini - Dec. 3rd 2009 > http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/2009/12/03/2009-12-03_no_doubt_about_thomas.html
I'm in the minority but I hope this guy retires, on his own terms and at the top of his game, as a Jet. I said he'd have 1,000 yards by Canada when he was in the early drought and I'm not afraid to admit I was wrong...by 41 yards.
agreed, whether or not folks think he's a bum or on the decline, he's been a class act since coming to the Jets
I didn't like him in 2007, he was a little better last year and better still this year. No way he doesn't get to play out his contract.
I think he has been one of our best players since he showed up. He is just a very good hard nosed running back. I want him to retire as a Jet as well. Much Love and props to TJ.
Thomas Jones reminds me every bit of Curtis Martin. Wants to keep football separate from his personal life, and completely focus on the game rather than interviewing on NFLN, ESPN or being a loud mouth. He gets hard earned yardage IMO. Won't have those 60 yard bursts every game like Chris Johnson and won't be talked about a lot in the NFL either, but will be a top 10 RB (maybe even a top 5, even while Leon was taking a few snaps). If next yr is uncapped, I'd like him to stay. If its capped yr, maybe rework his contract. He is reliable and can take 30 snaps a game running the ball.
i really think we need to resign TJ to a 3 year deal. LW coming off an injury and Greene with certain struggles, I don't feel comfortable passing the baton yet. This allows TJ to eventually move into a backup team mentor role towards the back portion of the contract. I think he's a major piece to this team
i think the jets fo is gonna take a " wait & see " approach re signing him to a new contract . i believe that the main concern re jones is his age. if he was 26 or 27 yrs old ; we would've already have signed him to a long term deal. * * ( yes , i know, for a rb his age & for the # of yrs he has been in the league he is a " young " rb because early in his career he did not have that many carries ) . . cheers ~ ~
There are a lot of fans who should eat some crow with regards to Thomas Jones. For the first 3 or 4 weeks of the season most of this board was trying to run him out of town on a rail, but he's done nothing but produce all season. All last season too. He's legitimately one of the better runningbacks in the game, and it's a real shame that he only seems to get attention when he's not playing well.
Agreed, he has always reminded me of CM too, except I think he is a little stronger and more physical. The guy is a rock. Never gets hurts, holds on to the ball. Gets tough yards. Not flashy, just a solid work horse. I hope they keep him.
Jones just quietly keeps getting it done. How can you not admire the guy. Talk of trading him or getting rid of him is ridiculous. The man plays hard. Rhodes on the other hand: I would venture a guess that there may be a couple of people on this board who might be able to play better than him right now.
I'm definitely one of the guys who was hard on Jones earlier in the year and I'll happily admit I was dead wrong. He's running hard and looks even better than he did in '08. Major props to TJ,
I've looked this post over several times and still cannot find the article or pictures of your sister.
