9 and 7 I'm sure we'll lose a couple that we SHOULD win. If our quarterback steps up. We'll surprise the league
It's so hard to tell right now...last year, everything thought the Jets were Super Bowl bound, and that the Giants would be a 5-11 team...well the tides pretty much reversed didn't they...you can't make assumption on this yet because you don't know how things will pan out between now and then...Many surprises come in preseason, like season ending injuries, so let's not get ahead of ourselves, but also, let's not rule out the Jets making the playoffs... For example, what if Tom Brady gets hurt??? AFC East will be COMPLETELY different right??? So as long as we don't know who will start the season and who will be healthy, it just doesn't make sense counting how many wins we will have next year YET.
i think the jets are gonna suck next season, 7 wins at best. and if we have to suck, why not go 4-12 or 5-11...atleast then we'll get a nice high 1st round pick.

way too early to even think about this right now. I think at this point the best you can hope for is a good squad next year and that Mangini is a strong leader. I also hope Pennington can be competetive, but I really doubt this. With 2 surgeries, I think this could be his last year playing. Anyway, I think we can consider next yera a success if Mangini makes a positive name for himself with the players and these draft picks turn out to be winners

hate to say but i agree with u, i wouldnt like us going 8-8 and not going to the playoffs, even 9-7 and missing , either we go to the playoffs or we just lose alot of games.
I would say 6-7 wins, anything above that is a bonus. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see playoffs but I think we need to allow Mangini some time to implement his plan....
We are not winning in double digits. I also do not agree with your assertion that talent is the best it has been since 2000. We do not have a clutch receiver like Chrebet. Martin is older and slower (I know he is a hall of famer but age catches all of us) our o-line will have two rookie starters they may be talented but they are rookies so who know how they are going to perform. We have no edge rusher now that Abraham is in the dirty south. and the "exception" you note at QB is one HUGE exception. My hope is that the team plays every down hard and does not quit in any game. Say what you want to about Herm in my opinion the team did not quit in any game. Ijust do not what to be picking in the top five of next year's draft.
Let answer this thread this way... with the 1st over all pick in the 2007 draft the New York Jets select _________
Wrong attitude, but you know what they say about years and years of abuse and conditioning. Hehehe. If we suck, it damn well better be that we suck on paper only. Bad record nothwithstanding, if they play like animals and the coaching is creative, we'll get to see what we've got to a fashion, make some assessments. I don't consider that a lost season, unlike last year where the Coaching staff showed me nothing and we learned squat about any diamonds in the rough to speak of once the season was already down the toilet. Play with newfound swagger and bravado, topple some teams nobody pegs us to pull off in the process, all the better.
@ TENNESSEE-W NEW ENGLAND-L @ BUFFALO-L INDIANAPOLIS-L @ JACKSONVILLE-L MIAMI-L DETROIT-W @ CLEVELAND-W @ NEW ENGLAND-W CHICAGO-L HOUSTON-W @ GREEN BAY-W BUFFALO-W S@ MINNESOTA-W @ MIAMI-L OAKLAND-W 9-7 is my prediction, leaving a wildcard spot a possibility. however if we can split our division series then i feel we will make the playoffs(of course this is wishfull thinking on my part).
Absolute best case: 9-7. Biggest upset: New England in Week #2. The student beats the master. Biggest letdown: Buffalo in week 14, a la 2001. We don't beat both Cleveland and Detroit. We go 3-3 in AFC East, splitting with everyone. Mangini era starts with an "L," but Berman ends the Primetime cast following Week 4 saying "It's still early, but the J-E-T-S, Jets Jets Jets are now 3-1. Maybe Eric Mangini, who grew up a couple miles down Rt. 84 from our studio, knows what he's doing down there in Hempstead." We can win up to 13 games. Well, theoretically we can win up to 16 but...yeah. More likely, we have a good shot at anywhere from 7-10 wins. We will lost a lot initially though as the team gels, and learns Mangini's system. I think we can finish up strong, and it helps to play Houston, Green Bay, Buffalo, Minnesota and Oakland towards the end. We can very well win our last 7 games if the team really develops, and one of our QBs turns into the next Brady.
Everybody that I know used to say we're going 13-3 or 12-4. People don't understand this is the NFL. There's no way in hell we would have that record. Our defense is not that good, our QB is not trustable, and our RB is getting old. Those are three good reasons why we won't even become close. Be happy if we just get to 8-8.
hey i know this si kinda off top. But with all this schedule stuff and teams we're facing. I want some opinions. I can only go to one home game this year and i cant decide. I'm deciding between the colts and the pats game.
