Supposedly Kyle Boller could hit 75 yards on his knees...not sure how credible the report was....Duck, just wondering, this is one of the few questions I have about Kellen Clemens....Play Action, is it any good? I know he played in a shot-gun offense but there is still some play action involved. I have watched brief tape of him....check out my thread below...

Boller can throw it from the 50 yard line....

...through the goal posts on his knees!!! Great athlete. He was called Jesus in cleats when he was being recruited in HS. Boller is not very accurate, though.

KC has decent fakes. He did run a pro style offense his first 3 years. Last year in the spread, he sold the freeze option very well. Basically he had to read the DE coming up field. Many times did he put the ball in the the belly of the RB only to pull it out and run past the DE. Play action only works if you have a decent running game.

Thanks for the post. I have one question. From the footage I have seen on Clemens I like his poise and elusiveness but he does not seem to have a lot of zip on the ball and does not throw a lot of spirals. ( I won't say wounded Ducks) I worry a little about his passes being effected by the windy conditions at the Meadowlands. Should we be worried about this?

Clemens has played a lot in the wind....

...so he's familiar with those conditions. He has a lot of touch on his passes; he doesn't throw the fastball unless he has to.

Arm strength has nothing to do with how far you can throw the ball. Who cares how far he can throw it, how many times do you see a QB throwing the ball 70 yards downfield in a game? Arm strength is measured by the amount of zip on his passes, from everything I have seen from Clemens his arm will not be an issue.. I have to admit, I am sick & tired of hearing about arm strength which I believe is the most overrated attribute for a QB..

Great 8th post, not 1st.. Maybe 8th here, is that what everybody is saying?

Anyway, Thanks for the Clemmens insight, sounds great. I too hope he is our starter if penny doesn't work out. I don't like ramsey, never did and hope clemmens is our guy for the future..

I wanted the Jets to somehow get Cutler but more than anything I wanted D'brick and Mangold, honestly I wanted Mangold more than D'brick! When they drafted Clemmens, I was weary but now that I have seen so many positive scouting reports, I have been put at ease for the most part.

Very good points Vision. I want to see a Qb that can throw the ball with accuracy and zip. From what I am hearing and reading, KC seems to have these attributes. I am sure there have been many a QB deemed with strong arms that have never panned out, in fact we had one named Browning Nagle if I am not mistaken. Wasnt his claim to fame that he could throw the ball through the goalposts from 50 yards on his knees???

    kind of off topic, but...

wtf is up with Clemen's uniforms? Every picture I've seen shows him with a different one. Don't ya'll have laundry in Oregon?
