Sanchez Running

What do you think about Sanchez' running the ball?

  1. -I love it. We should gameplan around it, Sanchez should always fight for extra yardage.

    6.2%
  2. -It should be at his discretion. He should run whenever he sees yardage, and should fight for yards.

    37.7%
  3. -Sanchez should only run after he goes through his reads. He should ALWAYS slide or step out bounds.

    53.4%
  4. -I hate it. Sanchez should never run the ball, putting him in more danger is reckless and stupid.

Agree on all points here. If he can get the yards then he should go and get the yards. Just learn how to hit the turf before the hit comes...or don't stare at the defender the entire time you're running (today's knee injury) and just get to the fucking sidelines.

Protect the ball and yourself. Run as a last resort. We can see he's tough but we don't want that 1 big hit to turn him into Penny or Vinney 99.

Yeah when he was running out of bounds today he turned around and looked where the defender was like 4 times, he is a CB he will catch you if you don't put your head down and fucking sprint.

What the Hell was he thinking while he was turning around? That was probably the dumbest thing I've seen him do since lowering his head at the goal line against the Titans.

He should have known where the 1st down marker was and run South, not West. The play where he came out of the game.

I'm all for him running if there is decent open space. There have been many times so far that he could have gained 10+ yards. He just really needs to work on his slide or he isn't going to have a long career.

I'm absolutely fine with Sanchez running the ball, he's a lot faster than I thought he was after he was drafted. If it gets us a first down, or a touchdown, I'll take it.

I do, however wish that he would get in the habit of A) tucking the ball when he scrambles (he holds the ball a lot like Braylon does, which is no good) and B) learn how to dive instead of trying to struggle for more yards and taking bigger hits as a result.

Other than that, why not let the kid make the most out of his athleticism?

make your reads....if the only one open is the turf in front of you, go for it.

    worked for Young and Elway.

Sanchez mobility is his best tangible asset at the moment. Ive been wanting him to pull it down a few times in other games when he has blocking all day and he neither takes off or throws it away.

Having a qb who can move around and pick up the first down by himself frustrates defenses and if anything it stays in the back of players heads if they get beat more than once. eventually opening up the passing game later in the game

I have no issue with him making plays and taking contact. thats wtf football is. then again if he were in the open field and Ray Lewis were coming for him sliding would be the best option lol.

i don't like the choices... because I'm in between ..

I don't have a problem with him running at all.. he has good feet and should definitely use them to his advantage whenever he sees fit... BUT!.. he should slide a lot more and be happy with what ever he gets... don't need anymore fumbles because of fighting for more yards...

He is pretty quick for a qb and should look to run more. Not fight for it just take that the defense gives him instead of throwing a dumb pick.

I like it, as long as he doesn't get hurt doing it and forcing Clemens to be the fucking QB.

Someone needs to teach that fucker how to slide.

Slide and tuck the ball close to his chest when he runs. What's the purpose of getting extra yards if the possibility of a fumble or concussions are high.

I say let him run if he has the smarts to it when it makes sense and he does it properly with good ball handling. Young and Montana used to burn the crap out of other teams with their running skills.

The ideal QB run is around one end when the out flat is opened up due to the reciever drawing double coverage down fild. Go as far as you can before stepping out of bounds. If you time it just right the Corner may bump you a bit after going out and that can draw a 15 yarder on top of the run. Bonus.

I am not saying don't run up the middle, but that offers the best chance of injury so that should only be done very occasionally.

And do we all remember how lucky he is that he didn't break his own neck on that play? There's a right way to do things and a wrong way to do things. Protecting yourself at the end of a run when you're a QB is the RIGHT way to do things.

FWIW: I think Sanchez should focus more on scrambling and less on running. As a QB your job is to make plays with your arm and that should remain your top priority. His above-average talent as a runner could make him an EXCELLENT scrambler in the pocket. I would rather see Sanchez use his mobility to buy time in the pocket and give a receiving option additional time to get open than simply use him mobility to pick up a handful of yards.

On 3rd and <5 however, he should run if he can make the sticks.

    From PFT.com

I'm pretty sure he's going to play, but I really hope that if his knee is truly injured that we're not forcing the issue...Atlanta just learned that lesson the hard way with Michael Turner
