Junc make it apart of your sig because it needs to be read by everyone. this kid has done well, but when he has a bad game its downright awful... and those are the games that everyone focuses on. I'm actually beginning to think that might be his career - having good games, or even great ones, always giving the team a chance to win....and then 3 games a year he has just downright terrible days, 3 or 4 picks, 48% completion, a fumble. But if the other 75% of the season he's the reason why the Jets are winning or have a chance to win, I won't mind.
It was not an 11 point deficet. Quit trying to pull facts out of thin air. It was 8 points. Its was also 8 points in the second quarter. Your making it out to be some great heroic come back and it was not. He led two good drives and 3 awful ones in the second half. This was a decent game by him, not a good or great one. The reason the time matters is beacue, THE TIME DID MATTER. Jacksonville had time to move down and get a feild gold. Weather it was a 20 yard one or a 45 yard one did not matter, they had plenty of time to do both. While your at it, take a look at the drive log: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/boxscore?gid=20091115020&page=drives TYhe offense had most of the second half to score and failed. The defense played lights out in the second half untill the last drive. Pinning the loss on one or the other is wrong because they all had a hand in it.
Don't get me wrong, I like Sanchez and his potential. I think he has played well in some and awfukl in others. I think pullign him would be fucking stupid at this point. I don't like giving credit where it is not due. Sanchez was not good in Jacksonville. He was ok at best. Junc is pulling "stats" that don't exist out of thin air to back up an position that has nothing behind it excpet his long winded bullshit.
right, but the Sanchez got the lead back with 5 mins left and the defense needed to make one stop after holding the Jags to no first downs all 2nd half, and then in crunch time they failed miserably. they both had a hand in the loss, but when it mattered, Sanchez stepped up and did what a QB is supposed to do, put the team in a position to win. He finished his job. the defense didn't finish their job.
He didn't have a great game against Jacksonville. But when crunch time was upon him, he got the job done. The TD was scored and the Jets took the lead. One stop. And the D couldn't do it. What hurt the most was the fact that Leonhard saw what was about to happen on Rhodes and tried to change the coverage. I felt so bad for leonhard.
He did well on that last drive, but the running backs were better. 44 of the 77 yards are on Greene and Jones. So in fact when it counted, we put the ball on the ground and did what we do best. MArk has a birght future in NY and I look forward to it. The Love one way and the hate the other are both a bit silly.
8, 11 you get the point. It was basically a 2 score game in the 4th and he led us back to take the lead. At one point we were down 21-10 and he led the O to enough points to take the lead only to watch our D melt under pressure costing us a game late for the 2nd time. The D played lights out until the game was on the line. The O gave them plenty of rest and set them up w/ the lead and they couldn't hold it. jax got it back w/ 5 mins left- did the D have to allow them to use all 5 mins? They couldn't even hold them to a long FG attempt. They let them slice right through them. The D also gave up 21 pts in the first half but that was sanchez's fault too, right?
Way to try and put words in my mouth. Thats a good sign that you have nothing to back up your position that Sanchez had a good game against Jacksonville. I already said the D did not play great. So your point is? Thats right, you have no point but to try and argue with false facts and using things I never said. Explain how 212 yards, 1 TD and 2 picks is "good" So if a QB finishes the season with 3392 Yards, a 53% completeion rate, 16 TD's and 32 picks they are playing "good". I guess you jsut expect a lot less out of a starting QB than I do. I belive in Mark, but your defending his every little play is silly. I'm hopefull for him to improve and play well. I'm not the one making up facts and trying to twist statments of others though. Its sad really.
Trading draft picks is fine by me. New blood is dumb when you can just get more expeienced players who are better. EDwards has been playin alright, but he can't good ball thrown to him
Yes, I have nothing to back it up except the fact that he led us back to take the lead in the final minutes. Yep a depp INT on the 1st play surely cost us the game and if not that play an INT that didn't lead to points surely cost us. People need a scapegoat, I understand this but Sanchez has been good enough to win 7 of the `10 games if the vets around him would have played to their capabilities. It's great to look at a stat sheet and see a poor rating and blame the game on Sanchez but when you actually watch every play and see what happens you can better understand he played more than well enough to win that day inclduing leading us back from an 11 pt deficit and giving our D a lead in the final mins. Not every "good" game has to have great stats associated w/ it. It's possible to win ugly. He didn't give Jax any points. That 1st INT set up jax in Jax territory and the 2nd one we got the ball back 2 plays later.
not an easy position to fill how many good quarterbacks can you name that are backing up their starting quarterback.
I disagree witht the notion of them scoring quicker. You have to score first, worry about the time later. You can't purposely speed up the temp of the offense to save time when the QB is in a groove at the current speed. You can completely disrupt his comfort and timing by doing so. The Jets needed a TD late in the game, and Sanchez and Co. delivered. Once in awhile the D needs to win a game. Who is to say if you rush him and keep telling him to save time that he doesn't force a throw and make a mistake? He put the Jets in a position to win, that is all you can ask from your QB.
Look at the last drive again. It has little to do with keep the QB in a "groove" because it was mostly running plays: 1st-10, NYJ23 12:41 M. Sanchez passed to D. Keller to the right for 1 yard gain 2nd-9, NYJ24 11:55 T. Jones rushed to the left for 12 yard gain 1st-10, NYJ36 11:18 T. Jones rushed to the left for 5 yard gain 2nd-5, NYJ41 10:43 M. Sanchez incomplete pass to the right 3rd-5, NYJ41 10:39 M. Sanchez passed to D. Clowney to the right for 7 yard gain 1st-10, NYJ48 9:57 B. Edwards incomplete pass to the right 2nd-10, NYJ48 9:49 S. Greene rushed to the right for 6 yard gain 3rd-4, JAC46 9:20 S. Greene rushed to the right for 5 yard gain 1st-10, JAC41 8:35 M. Sanchez incomplete pass to the left 2nd-10, JAC41 8:29 S. Greene rushed to the right for 1 yard gain 3rd-9, JAC40 7:53 M. Sanchez passed to B. Edwards to the right for 16 yard gain 1st-10, JAC24 7:24 T. Jones rushed to the right for 2 yard loss 2nd-12, JAC26 6:41 M. Sanchez passed to J. Cotchery to the right for 10 yard gain 3rd-2, JAC16 6:01 T. Jones rushed to the right for 1 yard gain 4th-1, JAC15 5:16 S. Greene rushed to the left for 14 yard gain 1st-1, JAC1 5:04 T. Jones rushed to the right for 1 yard touchdown. 2pt attempt failed, M. Sanchez pass to B. Edwards 9 Runs to 6 passes is not keeping him in a groove. This would be a great drive up late and winding down the clock, not so much while trailing by 5 in the 4th quarter.
Chad is a smart guy, but he does not have a doctorate. Since he got drafted, when would he have had 4-5 years to go to school, do research, and write a dissertation? We surely would have read about that in the NY papers. The ship has sailed for this year, but I do think it would be better to let Clemens go in the offseason and bring in a veteran backup. This may help w/ Sanchez's development, but we also need a viable option should an injury occur. How confident would anybody be this year if Sanchez got injured? Since Ainge looked better than Clemens in the pre-season, he may also develop to be a good backup in the future.
You definitely weren't complaining when we were 3-0, now you come out under the rock to criticize the GM? Good. Maybe we can criticize Rex? Maybe even David Harris for not winning us games? How about Mangold for not being able to protect the center AND Sanchez's blindside on every play? Or maybe even Revis for giving up that TD against Moss and about 40 other 5 yard passes? You have always been pessimistic, but to say this falls on the GMs shoulder is pretty dumb. Others have given you some really good names.
you know if ryan fowler were playing with himself we would be 14-0 right now and he would have a hand full of goo! it appears as though nyjunc has found his new herm edwards and will use whatever he can to defend him at all costs. hopefully thats not the case because i have to agree with harpua here that maybe just maybe if he had not turned the ball over twice and hit more than 53% of his passes the jets just maybe would have been ahead by more therefore unable to lose on a game winning drive at the end.
I love how you keep going on about the 11 point deficit, which was in the second quarter.... keep dreaming about late game heroics that did not happen. Your right, that INT that lead to a short feild for Jacksonville and thier first TD had nothing to do with losing by two points? Are you seroius? I guess handing the ball of 9 times on a drive that was comprised mostly of and finished on the ground is considered leading a team back now? Hell if handing off that many times is great QB play we got a winner! Marks main Job in this offense is to not turn the ball over, which he did two times that Game. If it was not for the early miscues he would not have needed the second half drive to win the game. The Second interception gave Jacksonville the ball in the red zone and Sanchez was only bailed out of giving up 14 points off tornovers because the Defense bailed his ass out with a tourn over of thier own. If you watch every play, you realize that Sanchez played well enough to lose that game. He's missing on short thorws and throwing into tight coverage a bit too much still. The Drops that Edwards and keller have left on the feild are not helping. Neither is much of shottys play design. Again, Like like him as a young QB, who has a lot of growing to do. He did not play "good" in Jacksonville. At the very least, we found out who's dick your going to be sucking in the near future now that Chad's gone.
